I hope that number is just his agent trying to inflate future fa offers because thats way to steep for someone who isnt a playmaker. Id rather pay that much to shields or daniels. What raji brings to the defense is replaceable imo. Im not against bringing him back but I was thinking fo about half that max

Id still be hesitant about getting rid of raji since we also dont know how long pickett will last.

-off topic- I still find it funny how well shields has done; when we first got him I thought he'd wash up; too short and seemed too cocky. But he at times is better then all out corners

A majority of players don't like to talk contracts during the season, they leave it up to their agent to negotiate.

8 mil a year seems like a great deal for raji, but there is plenty of time after the season to accept or reject.
I hate agents, but it is their job to get the best contract for their clients, I can understand why he andRaji declined at this point.

I'm betting there are other offers to other players we haven't heard about yet.
Ted is doing his job, always trying to stay ahead of things,.

I do like this quote from Raji.

"That's a decision I have to make when the time comes," Raji said. "But for right now I'm a Packer, and what they ask me to do I'm going to do. That's what part of what being a team player is."

TT better not offer Raji $8 million a year, he is not worth that kind of money. But then again Ted Thompson likes to take care of his high draft picks.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

His agent is being disengenuous. But then that's part of his job.

Yeah, part of your job in this system is to eat up block, to allow the LBs to get the glory. So Raji doesn't have great sack numbers. But you know what? Mike Daniels gets to the QB. Datone Jones has been. Hell, Bruce Clark (all time sack leader) was a 3-4 end.

Fact is, Raji is more of a penetrator and pass rusher at NT than he is a run stuffer.

This is pretty shitty news to wake up to. The Packers not only would be stupid - ARE stupid if the article is to be believed - to offer big or even moderate money to Raji, they would be better off without him in the lineup or on the team at all.

He doesn't take up space or stop runs - he just gets pushed around. Somebody like Daniels who can actually shed a block or somebody big who actually shows some toughness - Boyd? I don't know because he hasn't had a chance, but anybody in that spot would be preferable to Raji.

To be fair, we have no idea what the details were besides $8 mill a year. It could have been a deal with little guaranteed money. It could have been a deal where the Packers could have cut him after two seasons and felt little impact on the cap.

There's a reason the Packers offered it and Raji rejected it. I'm sure the contract was not as good as a lot of people here seem to believe.
