Boy what I would have given for Crosby to get that record. It would be very, very hard to touch for a long time, given the extenuating circumstances to lead to the attempt and the distance.

And as for the phantom Jon Ryan comment--sorry, we didn't draft Ryan. We drafted Crosby, and in my view--if you're gonna waste a draft pick on a kicker, he better be kicking on your team for more than a decade.

I've often wondered why kickers can boot these amazing kicks in practice but miss shorter kicks during games. I imagine the pressure of charging opponents has something to do with it.

I am pretty sure you have to kick differently to keep the ball away from the people jumping to block it that takes some distance away.
