It's coincidental. And due to changes and circumstances unique to both teams (e.g. one team broke the bank to compile a damn good OL and acquire a DT who ruins a run game on his own account, and the other team picked up a pretty good OLB and drafted a bunch of meh-to-pretty good players - seriously, I'm not giving Ted a pass on this season, I just don't think the Favre situation is the problem), but mostly coincidental.

Did you see the Dolphins and Falcons competing for playoff spots in week 16? Did anyone?

Coincidental.

I just wasted 13 minutes of my evening reading and removing the idiotic posts. Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves. If you want to bitch about Brett, do somewhere else. We have several other areas that would suit your needs. NFL News - The Back Alley, but NOT here!

Yes, I feared this thread would cause some issues, but I was stupid in having faith that you guys were better than that.

I can't say I agree with Rodgers comments. I was hoping he himself would step up to the plate and take that role, not hint or indicate that others need to pull together to replace the leadership of one man.

I also believe the Packers are missing that quiet leadership of Brett being in the huddle, on the field, etc. I mean, when players were drafted years back what was the first thing they said? "I'm excited to play with Brett Favre and the Packers" ... Normally you hear players talk about how great its going to be in the NFL, or on their team, etc. When we drafted players they would mention Brett early and sometimes first.

That means they are going to try HARDER to be on the same level as him.

We don't have Brett anymore therefore the making players try harder falls solely on the COACH. And Mike McCarthy has failed at that this year. I still like him, but I think he needs to learn how to motivate players more effectively.

My opinion.. articles like this should be parked elsewhere.. because there will be more and the same ole' debate will flow.

Man, I remember when a young QB was allowed to grow into his role. I think of some HOF-calibur guys and how if their fan bases had given up on them after a season we might not even know about them.

Yeah, Rodgers has more to learn, and room for improvement.

Did any of you people seriously think he'd stroll in and out-perform the best QB in the NFL, ever? Really? Your expectations were that there would be NO dropoff?

Anyone who answers "Yes" to the above questions, all I have to say to you is wow. Just... wow. I hope you wear a helmet.

To those who are convinced that he's proven anything more than that he can play QB at a reasonably high level on an NFL team, you should probably sedate yourselves somehow. We have less than one season of proof on what this kid's made of, and we still have a lot to learn.

To those who would like to see him go, I pray you don't get your wish -- because after that happens we'll be running around with teams like KC, trying to pick through the QB scrap heap year after year and praying for a miracle.

Bottom line: The kid proved he can play at this level, and do it well. He proved he could handle the hits (and he got a LOT of them, thanks to our sub-par O-line play), play hurt, and be a tough guy. He proved that he can make all the throws we need him to make, and he can do it well. He's got a lot more to prove, but IMO he's shown that he's got the potential to be a damn good QB for us for years to come. I guess I'm stupid or something, because it all gives me some hope.

100% agree. I was surprised at a number of things he was able to do, as well (pass on the run, scramble, VERY effective QB sneaks, etc.).

Well then.. you will continue to be disappointed.. there are some that can't seem to let go of Brett.. I imagine there will be a few that hold on for decades.
