I second the Zombie approach.. bring tangible work and examples with you.. even simply tools like the windows process killer I wrote for work.. at start up it hunts and kills processes on PC I don't want running and logs positives. Simple but seems to draw attention quickly.

Much like other facets of life, and yes the opposite sex, it is about confidence. Not as much cockiness but being confident in what you say and how you say it. Interviewing is so much like a first date.. jittery might be cute.. but it is confidence that will bring it home.

I was pretty nervous about the phone interview, but after today, there are several other promising jobs that are more intriguing. I really want that GBPD position, that just screams Kevin all over it, well, other than it being a Police Department.

A lot of folks didn't take advantage of their services but you can get your hiney I did. They helped me write my resume, plus had me do fake interviews where they actually videotaped me and told me what I did right and what I did wrong.

This is something you don't have to do with a professional. You can do it with a friend. (But of course it was nice to work with a professional).

Seriously, if you want to get good at playing the piano, practice several hours every day. If you want to get good at interviewing, then practice interviewing with a friend. It really makes a big difference. By the time I started interviewing, it was really easy.

I AM!

Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, reverent.

Again, from memory. Seriously.

Skip the code, memorize them, aspire to live 'em. Walk into an interview with 'em in the back of your mind. You will be confident.

Home run every time. Keep the Sandusky-types out the Boy Scouts, a fine way to roll...

Went through the let go, job search process almost 4 years ago in the depth of the high unemployment. I can't count how many resumes I sent out, any and all jobs I could find whether I completely filled the requirements of not. With so many companies only accepting resumes and applications online, and using programs to search for keywords to do the first weeding of applicants, how and what resume's say is extremely important.

One thing I was told when I first got out of the service and returned to private life was to remember. Every time you interview and do not get the job, is one interview closer to the job you will get.

I would also suggest, with web design and programming experience, look into starting a business for it. I started my own pc service business when i was out, almost 18 months, and while not enough to support my family and replace the job I lost, it helped. And when I did get the full time job, I am still able to run it on the side as a fall back if something would happen in the future.

I'm hoping with the abundance of calls and what not, it means I'll land a job sooner than later.

I was told if I don't land a job before Thanksgiving, my next hope would be late January at the earliest.

dfosterf (26-Jun) : I think it would be great to have someone like Tom Grossi or Andy Herman on the Board of Directors so he/they could inform us
dfosterf (26-Jun) : Fair enough, WPR. Thing is, I have been a long time advocate to at least have some inkling of the dynamics within the board.
wpr (26-Jun) : 1st world owners/stockholders problems dfosterf.
Martha Careful (25-Jun) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (25-Jun) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy is on my ballot subject to me penciling him in as a no.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : I thought it used to be we voted for the whatever they called the 45, and then they voted for the seven, and then they voted for Mark Murphy
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Because I was too lazy to change my address, I haven't voted fot years until this year
dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
Zero2Cool (25-Jun) : Maybe wicked wind chill made it worse?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : And then he signs with Cleveland in the offseason
Mucky Tundra (25-Jun) : @SharpFootball WR Diontae Johnson just admitted he refused to enter a game in 41° weather last year in Baltimore because he felt “ice cold”
Zero2Cool (24-Jun) : Yawn. Rodgers says he is "pretty sure" this be final season.
Zero2Cool (23-Jun) : PFT claims Packers are having extension talks with Zach Tom, Quay Walker.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jun) : GB-Minnesota 2004 Wild Card game popped up on my YouTube page....UGH
