Benson has fumbled 12 times the last 2 seasons. That seems like a lot to me.

We can ask all day long on the whys.. but we probably will never know what conversations took place with Grant and his agent.. or those compared to Benson and his representation.

We are only looking at one side of the puzzle.. and to be honest even then unfairly due to the vastly different situations Grant was in from Benson in terms of talent and type of offense surrounding them.

Add to it.. the Cinncy plays in much more traditional style division in the AFC North.. probably the most physical brand of football in the game today. Ravens and Steelers play a brand of football on defense different than most teams..

Anyway.. I would guess there was a economic factor in play here.. that and maybe question marks surrounding the physical aspect of our running game in Kuhn. Maybe.. just maybe it isn't a feature back role that Packers have in mind for Benson.. maybe it is more in the lines of a Kuhn type short yardage type role.. a jack of all trades type role.

Shorter more compact back in Benson (5'11" 227) verses the more vertical Grant (6'1" 222).. brings a bit more pop behind the pads so to speak.

I am grabbing at straws here because I wasn't privy to any of the discussions around this decision.

I think we may have found our answer.. I would be willing to bet not many veterans would take such a deal. Not unless they really wanted to play for a chance at a ring or desperate for cash.

Green Bay  - Despite coming off a third straight 1,000-yard rushing season, new Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson will be treated contractually just like another rookie free agent if he ends up on injured reserve.

As reported previously, Benson's one-year contract with the Packers contains no bonus money and a veteran's minimum base salary of $825,000. Because of the minimum salary benefit, he will count just $540,000 against the salary cap.

However, if Benson doesn't hold up and lands on injured reserve, his base will plummet from $825,000 to $393,000.

I don't know Uncle 🇹🇹 personally, but I'm willing to bet he feels this way.

I do too think that what Nerd said has some truth to it. Grant wasn't known for his blocking and supposedly, Benson can block.

Why are to think/assume Ryan Grant wouldn't take/accept such a deal? I'm not saying he would, I just ... well ... I'm lost on why Benson over Grant, lol.

Well, perhaps we can sign this Demp's kid. I would take a silver medal track star who is also likely the fastest person in the NFL on the Packers, wouldn't you?

dfosterf (25-Jul) : It's my one day deal complaint dept. on shareholder meeting day
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Probably a homer access credential intimidation kinda thing
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Meathead "journalists" skip this, concentrating on operational revenue when convenient. They switch when net revenue is more favorable.
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Resulting in an actual drop of net revenue of 12.5%. She is from Minnesota. Just sayin'

dfosterf (25-Jul) : Did Savion Williams run into a goalpost or something?
Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : also, no bueno when a guy starts getting concussions right off the bat in his career
Zero2Cool (25-Jul) : Concussion is worse. Banks probably vet off day via back booboo claim
Mucky Tundra (25-Jul) : @AndyHermanNFL Jordy Nelson out at camp today. No word if he’s in play for one of the two open roster spots ; )
dfosterf (25-Jul) : Is that better or worse than Banks bad back?
