Wow. Was it the injury or is there more to the story?

I wouldn't mind seeing Jim Leonhard in green and gold. I think we got some guys who can play, though.

Seems a little odd with the timing. I suppose with physicals today, maybe something was wrong? Although, I don't recall his name mentioned as one who failed.

Sounds like an injury type situation.

JSO

--- As for the injuries, McCarthy said that TE Andrew Quarless (torn ACL, right knee) and OT Derek Sherrod (broken leg) both will not pass their physicals and that FB John Kuhn (knee) is also in question for now. McCarthy added that S Charlie Peprah (knee) is also "one of the individuals I’m waiting for more information" on.

Meanwhile, RB Alex Green (knee) is close. McCarthy said he'll have more info on Green Thursday and knocked on the podium.

GreenBayPressGazette said he didn't pass his physical:

http://blogs.greenbaypressgazette.com/blogs/gpg/insider/2012/07/25/peprahs-release-opens-door-for-jennings-mcmillian/

Either second-year pro M.D. Jennings or rookie Jerron McMillian is likely to get extensive playing time at safety this season now that the Packers have cut veteran Charlie Peprah after he failed his physical because of a lingering knee injury.

Peprah, 29, missed all of the team’s offseason practices because of the injury but still was expected to compete with Jennings and McMillian for playing time opposite Morgan Burnett at safety in the Packers’ nickel and dime defenses, if not on some base-defense downs also. Peprah told ESPN Milwaukee, which first reported his release, that his injury probably was one factor but suggested the Packers also might have wanted to go with younger players anyway.

“It caught me off guard, I was surprised,” Peprah said. “I didn’t pass my physical right away, so I’m assuming that had something to do with (the release). They might’ve been leaning this way anyway. I’ve never been in this situation before, coming into camp beat up a little bit. I didn’t know how they’d handle it. I guess I know now.”

Jennings, a second-year pro, made the team last season as an undrafted rookie. McMillian was a fourth-round draft pick this year.

EDIT: Charlie wasn't the fastest guy out there to start with (4.66 40 time), and the Packers may have been concerned that the knee injury was going to cause him to lose another step.

The Green Bay Packers have signed G Greg Van Roten and released G Grant Cook and S Charlie Peprah.

They still have a roster spot to fill.

"I appreciate all the fans for their support," Peprah said. "Even the ones who weren't supportive, I appreciate them, too. That made me work even harder. Man, it was a dream come true to play for the Packers. Not many people can say they played for a historic franchise like this, and be a part of a Super Bowl team. It's hard to be happy about that right now, but I know looking back at my career, five or six years later, I know it's something I'll be blessed to have been a part of."

I like his attitude, even with getting cut. I'm betting that 🇹🇹 goes with one of the youngsters on the roster and doesn't bring a veteran in.

This is a bit of a surprise. I didn't expect him to start but I thought he would be a solid backup and ST contributor.

Thanks Charlie. All the best.

bet if he's in a championship game, he'll wrap up Hakeem Nicks instead of love tap him.

I'm still bummed that we aren't going to get to see Collins and Burnnett on the field at the same time. Jennings seems like the front runner to win the job, but is should be a good camp battle between three young players.

beast (8-Jan) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty
