I read someones post that blamed Ted Thompson for Scott Wells leaving and blaming Ted Thompson for Chad Clifton being released. It's common knowledge that Scott Wells was going to leave as he wanted too much money. And as for Chad Clifton, if the guy can't pass his physical why should he be on the team? It's just silly to fault the Packers for releasing a guy who can't pass a physical. There's a reason every NFL team gives a player a physical. Perhaps some of us should accept that fact.

Here's what Mike McCarthy had to say about Chad Clifton and Nick Collins.

The obvious is how good a player that Chad has been throughout his career, and I look at Nick Collins, I think Nick and Chad will both without a doubt be in the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame. But Nick Collins, if you look at the beginning of his resume, he had a heck of a chance to go to Canton, just the way he was starting in the first half of his career.

But that really was not the tough part at all, because it wasn’t a professional decision. It was clearly a personal decision, specifically with Nick Collins. Just based on the information as an organization, Ted Thompson and I sat down, and the final question that’s asked is, ‘If Nick was your son, would you let him play?’ And that’s why we made the decision we did.

The same with Chad. Chad Clifton is going to be missed around here. You’re talking about two great guys in the locker room, wonderful human beings, excellent teammates, two men that we classify as core players. They’re a big part of the way our locker room is. We take a lot of pride in the culture and the way we go about things, and Chad Clifton and Nick Collins exemplified that to the max.

This shit with Nick Collins is asinine.

Why did they let him go through with that unnecessary surgery, if they weren't going to let him play ANYWAY?

That's messed up and in fact, they could be opening themselves up to a huge lawsuit. Unprofessional, to say the least. Unless there's something more to the story.

You really are clueless, holy damn. You're trying to make MORE to the story ... for what outcome? For what goal? For what reason? Look, it sucks he's not a Packer anymore, but that doesn't mean we have to act like complete tinfoil hat wearing douchebags about it. Nick Collins KNEW the risks, he knew he had to have the surgery to have any CHANCE to play. He knew the chances were slim when having the surgery.

The Packers didn't make Nick Collins have the surgery, Nick Collins CHOSE to have the surgery on his own! It's not that damn complicated to understand and if you for a god damn second read Nick Collins comments in his interviews since the injury you'd realize how ignorant you are about the whole situation.

Wells left for his big payday. That was out of our control. Those are the tough decisions a GM has to make, especially after he has assembled a championship winning team. You simply can't keep all of them together. Cliffy was a true warrior for such a long time. His play was slipping these past couple of seasons, moreso last year, and he couldn't get off the trainers table. Tough to have to make the call, but as a prudent GM, you make that call. Collins, that is a risk call, and again, I think it was the prudent call.

Now, look at all of those contracts. How much has Ted saved by making those tough calls? That is some big coin to be used to offset resigning Rodgers, Matthews, Raji and Jennings, among others. Losing Collins was sad, but this cap savings to GB will help our team. I hope like hell they keep him as a coach.

Cliffy was done. Love the guy. Packer Hall of Famer and hopefully has a job with the Packers somewhere down the line. But he was already done last year. I saw him miss blocks that he would have normally leveled the guy.

As for Collins, no opinion. Could have been arguably a potential Hall of Famer at the rate he was going, but I'm not a doctor.

The hit was not a major hit. He never lost control over his extremities, just was numb. He was up and moving around with little to no problems days later, albeit with a neck brace.

I think the best way to describe my frustration is ... think of a car that looks great on the outside, interior is awesome to the eye, but under the hood it has a blown head gasket rendering the vehicle useless. I've had this happen to me before and it's just as frustrating... cuz I think... wtf it looks great, body is in great shape, ... it makes it hard to separate ties ... for me.

But yes...
Scott Wells - priced himself out of Green Bay
Chad Clifton - hindsight says he should have retired after 2010 ala Michael Strahan ... out on top
Nick Collins - four kids need him upright than millions of Packers fans.

Uncle Teddy made the right calls all 3 times.
Wells wanted too much money.
Cliffy wanted to play too long.
Collins needed too much by his family.

Whoever blamed Ted Thompson is correct. He's the GM, he makes those types of decisions. 🤨 🤣 And they're most likely the correct ones...even though we hate to see those players go. 😞
Why is Jerry Kramer not in the Hall of Fame?

Zero2Cool (12m) : However, we seem to struggle vs new QB's
Zero2Cool (12m) : Should be moot point, cuz Packers should win tonight.
packerfanoutwest (26m) : ok I stand corrected
Zero2Cool (28m) : Ok, yes, you are right. I see that now how they get 7th
Zero2Cool (29m) : 5th - Packers win out, Vikings lose out. Maybe?
beast (29m) : Saying no to the 6th lock.
beast (30m) : No, with the Commanders beating the Eagles, Packers could have a good chance of 6th or 7th unless the win out
Zero2Cool (34m) : I think if Packers win, they are locked 6th with chance for 5th.
beast (34m) : But it doesn't matter, as the Packers win surely win one of their remaining games
beast (34m) : This is not complex, just someone doesn't want to believe reality
beast (35m) : We already have told you... if Packers lose all their games (they won't, but if they did), and Buccaneers and Falcons win all theirs
Zero2Cool (36m) : I posted it in that Packers and 1 seed thread
Zero2Cool (39m) : I literally just said it.
packerfanoutwest (43m) : show us a scenario where Pack don't get in? bet you can't
Zero2Cool (45m) : Falcons, Buccaneers would need to win final two games.
Zero2Cool (45m) : Yes, if they win one of three, they are lock. If they lose out, they can be eliminated.
packerfanoutwest (54m) : as I just said,,gtheyh are in no matter what
Zero2Cool (1h) : Packers should get in. I just hope it's not 7th seed. Feels dirty.
packerfanoutwest (1h) : If packers lose out, no matter what, they are in
packerfanoutwest (1h) : both teams can not male the playoffs....falcon hold the tie breaker
packerfanoutwest (1h) : if bucs win out they win their division
beast (1h) : Fine, Buccaneers and Falcons can get ahead of us
packerfanoutwest (1h) : falcons are already ahead of us
beast (1h) : Packers will get in
beast (1h) : If Packers lose the rest of their games and Falcons win the rest of theirs, they could pass us... but not gonna happen
packerfanoutwest (1h) : they still are in the playoffs
packerfanoutwest (1h) : If Packers lose the remaining games,,,,at 10-7
Zero2Cool (3h) : We can say it. We don't play.
Mucky Tundra (4h) : But to say they are in is looking past the Saints
Mucky Tundra (4h) : That said, their odds are very favorable with a >99% chance of making the playoffs entering this week's games
Mucky Tundra (4h) : Packers are not in and have not clinched a playoff spot.
buckeyepackfan (5h) : Packers are in, they need to keep winning to improve their seed#.
Mucky Tundra (14h) : Getting help would have been nice, but helping ourselves should always be the plan
beast (14h) : Too bad Seahawks couldn't beat Vikings
bboystyle (14h) : We just need to win Monday night and were in
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Or ties, but let's be real here
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Other scenario was Falcons+Rams losses
Mucky Tundra (17h) : Needed a Falcons loss for a Seahawk loss to clinch
buckeyepackfan (18h) : Am I wring in saying if Tge Vikings beat The Seahawks, The Packers clinch?
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : Agreed; you stinks
Zero2Cool (21-Dec) : I'm not beating anyone. I stinks.
Mucky Tundra (21-Dec) : rough injury for tank dell. guy can't catch abreak
beast (21-Dec) : So far the college playoffs have sucked... One team absolutely dominates the other
beast (21-Dec) : Well even if you weren't positive towards a guy, you wouldn't nessarily want to tell the media that (if they don't know about it)
Martha Careful (21-Dec) : I think MLF want Love to look past the end half issues, and feel good about his play. Our coaches generally keep a very positive tone.
beast (21-Dec) : I think a great running game will do that for most QBs
packerfanoutwest (21-Dec) : Coach Matt LaFleur has said quarterback Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career.
beast (21-Dec) : Oh, that's how you keep beating buckeye, with cheating
Zero2Cool (20-Dec) : There is a rule that if your name starts with 'b' you lose 15 points. Hey, I don't make the rules, I just enforce them!
