I wish I had a virtual riding crop that I could slap people with every time they used that inane phrase "Packer People." I swear, sometimes I think people would rather have a righteous team than a winning team. [puke]

Why not? I think he might back a decent backup fullback. And Mike McCarthy has said he would love to be able to coach him.

I bet a backfield with Aaron Rodgers and Tim Tebow, the Packers would have the best 3rd down conversion in the NFL, easily, lol.

As Kevin pointed out, with Tebow in the backfield, the Packers would probably have the most dominant third-down conversion percentage in the league.

If they think Tebow is the one to get, that's fine with me. But I believe there are a number of QBs in the draft worth developing if Harrell is sufficient in the present.

Sure, character can help; I'm not denying that. I have never advocated allowing the inmates to run the asylum. On the other hand, character isn't everything either: plenty of Super Bowls have been won by teams with players of questionable character.

It's not the fact that people want character on their team that bothers me per se. It's this sort of smug self-righteousness some people seem to reflect, as if rooting for a team with supposedly higher character is somehow evidence of their own moral rectitude. That's what gets under my skin. I don't know how many more Packers players have to fuck up before people finally accept that their team is no more morally upright than any other team. Every team, every group of people on the face of this planet, has its malcontents.

If we don't get some O-line help we might need a scrambling back-up for Rodgers.

Tebow isn't high character. He's high douchebag. There's a difference.

But the point being, conduct alone isn't going to get a guy moved from Green Bay if the team is winning and the players is playing a role. Go back to someone like Tim Harris, if it wasn't for this contract demands the Packers more than likely would have kept him upon the roster and dealt with his off field issues.

More recently.. Underwood wasn't shipped out until his play finally forced him out. Koren Robinson was brought in with a laundry list of issues.. Gilbert Brown.. Ahman Green.. the list can continue.

It becomes a matter of what a team is willing to deal with in relationship to his production and cost ratio.

When the value finally outweighs the headache.. the player moves on.

Now to Tebow... IMO, he would not be a bad player to have upon the roster, but his cult like following with him having really no place to leverage meaningful playing time would, thus having to deal with the constant cul.. fan pressure would outweigh any of the benefits to developing him. Prior to him hitting the field and having success upon it, maybe.. now, nope.

Besides.. I have a ton of faith in Harrell and the next development project the Packers bring aboard.. Russell Wilson anyone? :)
