The thing is, I'm not at all denying that there's not good music in there. It's just so slanted towards his generation. That's why I got pissed off at the writer.

Now, if we want to have a generation war, we could start a "your generation sucks!" thread in the Back Alley.

for all the complaining that people have made of the list not having any current albums, all the lists that I have brought in here were made a while ago.

the album list-

Last Updated: 3-28-07

What I had hoped people would do is notice that (on the various instrument lists and this one as well.) and then say there was a new album released last year by hmm I can't think of the group that Rocky likes so much. He use to have them as a part of his signature.

But instead of looking at the link and seeing where this guy who made the list is coming from it is easier to piss and moan and denigrate a whole generation. Apparently it is ok to lump a whole group of people together and say they are all worthless if they are born within a few years of one another. We would never tolerate that if we based that same comment of color or gender or other classifications. I find it equally offensive when it is based on age. You can't throw everyone into one category and condemn the whole group. That is bigotry as well.

Plus, you have a complete exclusion of Heavy Metal. That genre has had so much innovation it's amazing. Where's the credit?

And what's with Queen's "A Night at the Opera" at 101? WTF? There are some real piece of **** albums listed above that one. Why is that not in the top 10 at the very least?

And Radiohead's Kid A in there but not The Bends? Kid A was horrible. The Bends was fantastic.

Was this guy on crack when he wrote this list?

One more thing to consider, he said, that his lists were based on

Criteria: - These Albums were chosen for their Popularity, Influence, and Musical Impact.

Elvis, The Beatles, even the Everly Brothers going to naturally get weighted stronger than a group that has been around for only 5 years. Just by the shear numbers of time. More people will have listened to their songs. More people will have bought their albums. More groups will say, "They were the driving force behind my music."

VR don't you know that some people have such low self worth/esteem that the only way they can feel good about themselves is to blame their plight on others?

All that is wrong is someone else's fault.

I could give him a list of more than 100 boomers who have had an accomplished productive life in all fields (civil rights, politics, sports, business, arts) and it wouldn't be good enough. All that is wrong has to be "our" fault.

It's not all our fault. But we *are* responsible for some cosmic fuck-ups.

Regardless of the generation in which we speak, it is clear the a 100 or even a couple hundred can't make a country successful. And that is where we as a society are missing the point.

We can't count on a "few" to drive the ship.. we collectively as a nation better start stepping up, pulling together and rebuilding a strong nation.

IMO, we all, from generation to generation have our flaws and faults. So freaking what.. it is what the hell it is. Pointing fingers like those in Washington isn't going to get the job of rebuilding this nation done.

One of the major flaws in our society today is we have no clear vision of where we need to go as a country. Hell we can't even agree where we are.. Conservatives vs Liberals.. Dems vs Republicans.. class vs class.. and yes.. Generation vs Generation.. it doesn't freaking stop.

One clear thing.. as we continue to become more and more divided the weaker and weaker we get as a nation.

Watching the news.. peaking in on the campaign trail.. even listening to the coffer clutchers on the corner of main street America.. we can't be more diverse in our opinions and further away from solving what ails us.

We don't need any help from the outside to become a fractured nation.. we are doing that all by ourselves. Rapidly I may add.

Hell.. I am as guilty as all get out.. for decades I put football and sports well ahead of truly being aware of the nation around me. And to be honest.. it was far easier to run through life with those blinders on.
