I'm not going to classify last year as a fluke, but a strong argument could be made for some better luck last year vs. this year.
Against the Eagles, we couldn't run the ball, and we sucked at passing, too. There was no magical comeback drive. We punted, they dropped it, we recovered it, FAILED to move the ball after three attempts, and kicked a field goal.
Against the Redskins, Corey Williams strips a ball while they are completely mowing us over down the field...Charles picks it up, gets a beautiful key block by none other than Justin bustin' Harrell, and sir Charles scores the game winning TD...we hang on like snot to close out the game.
Against the Broncos, we were ahead late in the 4th quarter. Denver went through us like crap through a goose down to around the goal line. On 1st or 2nd down the Denver receiver ran a short route to the goal post...he was left open--wide open---Cutler threw it behind him, they settle for a field goal to tie, and Brett shucks one up in OT for the win.
Let's talk a moment about luck in one we lost last year. The Giants missed three field goals of less than 40 yards in that game. Green Bay won the toss in OT. Why do I bring that up? Well, those same luckless Giants to that point nailed a 47 yarder in Lambeau, in January. That would be the first time THAT ever happened. Their friggin' luck/karma/whatever has been pretty damn good since, if you don't believe me, just ask the Patriots.
