I've read interviews with QBs and for the record, most of them agree that the two places they hate rushes coming from is from their blind side and from right up the middle.

A fast DE coming around the end, if the QB sees him, he can step forward and release the ball. If it's the blind side, then the QB is screwed and he hopes he's not going to fumble it.

But from the middle, there is nowhere to go. It doesn't matter if you're mobile or not. There's nowhere to go. Usually the middle is your escape route. When your escape route is blocked off, you're screwed.

As a defender, it's easier to adjust when you momentum. If the QB steps right, you step left. And vice versa. He's still going down. You got a free shot on him.
