How could anyone question 🇲🇲? He's been stellar all year.

I mean not to direct this at you, but can we please please please get it out of our heads that Thompson will go after well-known guys? Please?

His MO has been to go after younger players with upside who can be coached into really good players. He will, most certainly, go that route again and look to the draft to sure up the roster. Young players who are raw and need to develop, but can eventually contribute something.

Perhaps the best we can hope for is Brandon Chillar, who the team is willing to resign provided he has recovered from injury. Not even sure if he is a FA, but Ted does not work this way.

And it's hard to think he'll start now.

I guess my point is too much goes on within this scheme during the game to sit back and safely conclude McCarthy is a problem for this team.

That said, there were some moments that left me wondering if MM really put his offense in the best position to succeed. Kuhn's fumble is the main example: was it really necessary to give that carry to Kuhn? Goal line, I could understand. But there?! Even before the fumble I was taken aback by the play call.

Overall, though, it's hard to argue McCarthy doesn't have his players ready for games. He just got his team to go 15-1 coming off a Superbowl; set an aggressive tone with hunting instead of being hunted, and generally kept his players (namely receivers) focused on the bigger picture. Dude gets positive results.

Lets be honest here, the problem was personnel on the D. The 3-4 Blitzing D is a great D and it's proven.. He basically runs the identical D that the Steelers have but look at their players? 2 great pass rushers on the outside and they have the ability to play better in man to man mixed with zone blitzes.

Last year we mixed up zone defense with a ton of man to man. Collins would eliminate MOST big plays down the field and was a good tackler. We lost Jenkins who is always double team opening up room for Raji, Matthews and whoever else is sent.

Someone mentioned that our D is predictable but which is a farce, we have MANY, MANY more defensive plays than for example the Giants. Press coverage, rush 4 virtually every down. Sit in the Tampa 2 with many only 1 high safety. The scheme is fine but you NEED the personnel to run it. There is a ton of great 3-4 defenses in the league. A lot of them were dominant, including the Packers last year. Lost Jenkins and lost a pro bowl safety. That's a huge problem.

I think Clifton, Driver, and Grant have all played their last game as Packers. I know I'll get my chestnuts roasted on this, but it is time. Their replacements are already on the team, and their losses will be minimal. With the savings from their salaries we can more than pick some depth on the defense to rebuild some things we lost from last year's defense. I can't stand watching a sieve for a defense, don't care how many touchdowns we score. We turned into the 1980's Chargers this year.

3. I don't understand all the Grant hate. First play of the game he makes a sweet cut and goes for 19. Second run he goes for five. Then he doesn't run again for, what, two quarters? And when he does, it's to the left where there have been few running holes all year (and there weren't again yesterday) or left-center (which is almost as bad). Did he get a third run to the right side over Sitton/Bulaga? I don't remember one. He had a whopping 8 carries all day. Sure, I'd rather have a better RB than Grant. But he's not the problem. Fumble, notwithstanding.

Everyone thinks Starks the second coming. But look at where his gashing runs are called. Exactly where Grant's good runs are called. Either one of them is fine if there's a hole. Neither one does much if there isn't any. And at least Grant's fumble came because the D punched it out. What's Starks' excuse for his drop?

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

1 - Dom is over the hill. He was a great DC. Giving credit where it's due. But no longer. Thanks for 2010 though.

2 - NEVER again rush 3

3 - Finley needs to go. After we trade off Finley, 🇲🇲 needs to tell our players that drops won't be tolerated and Finley is no longer a Packer because of his drops. Send a message.

4 - As everyone else has said, another pass rusher. He either needs to come from the middle like Cullen Jenkins or opposite CM3.

OL is getting better, but keep drafting. We saw that injuries happen and it would be nice to have more depth at OL.

And yes, it seemed like we were watching the 80s Chargers today. In the Playoffs, defense needs to step up. It didn't.

There is more to that than the play call being bad. If you have 8 guys covering 3 and they need 11 yards that should be considered a good situation for the D.

I don't know if it's just miscommunication or guys freelancing or what but the secondary had some sort of fatal flaw this year where they could never win their match ups no matter what the situation (especially 3rd downs). Everyone wants to blame just the pass rush but the secondary this year was an absolute mess game in and game out.
