I am really pulling hard for us to get Courtney Upshaw in the draft. He is a big OLB from Alabama that possesses good pass rush ability and has the size to hold up in the run game.

Any notable free agents this year that Ted Thompson might actually go after?

His MO has been to go after younger players with upside who can be coached into really good players. He will, most certainly, go that route again and look to the draft to sure up the roster. Young players who are raw and need to develop, but can eventually contribute something.

Perhaps the best we can hope for is Brandon Chillar, who the team is willing to resign provided he has recovered from injury. Not even sure if he is a FA, but Ted does not work this way.

And it's hard to think he'll start now.

I don't blame Ted per se, but he does tend to go into every season with gaping holes at at least one position. This year it was DL and OLB, but in the past it's also been OL, RB and whatnot.
But this was more on Mike McCarthy as far as I'm concerned. This offense never gets into a rhythmn. They just hit big plays a lot.

lmao @ Ted blew this one this year ... after a 15 win regular season. I guess Ted should have caught some of those eight drops and should have kept a better hold on those three lost fumbles!!! DAMN YOU TED!

Anyhow, the defense is the biggest concern for me, and the Packers OL of course, still.

With Collins injury, my biggest concern is the secondary. I honestly think we need to prepare for C-wood to retire here soon as well. He made some great plays this season but, for every great play, he has three where he slips and falls.

I agree we did not get the pressure we wanted but I also know that just about every time the opposing QB throws for 10+ yards on us, I get this sick feeling as I see the opposing receiver with no one around for 5 yds.

Rodgers fumbled (great play by Osi, but Rodgers rarely gives opponents the chance to have a fumble), Grants fumbles, Kuhn fumbles, misses Greg for a potential TD to open the game, misses Finley for a first-down on a key drive...

Unless McCarthy specifically called plays with the intent of these things happening, you cannot blame him. I have never heard of a head coach telling his players to intentionally play terrible.

I would have loved for our O to play better. In fact, they should play better; but every offense is going to have a bad day or two. Even the Saints, for all their weapons, have struggled a game or two. You expect your defense to be able to step up and generally play solid. Unfortunately, that was too much to expect from our defense.

Our loss was a disappointment, but should not have been unexpected.

I think Clifton, Driver, and Grant have all played their last game as Packers. I know I'll get my chestnuts roasted on this, but it is time. Their replacements are already on the team, and their losses will be minimal. With the savings from their salaries we can more than pick some depth on the defense to rebuild some things we lost from last year's defense. I can't stand watching a sieve for a defense, don't care how many touchdowns we score. We turned into the 1980's Chargers this year.

Zero2Cool (3-Dec) : And the reason I think it is BS, is Bill isn't going to pine for a job that's not available. He respects the whole coaching people thing
Zero2Cool (3-Dec) : I think it's BS. Jets thought win now with Rodgers, not happening.
beast (3-Dec) : The rumor could be BS... but supposedly Belichick wouldn't like the Cowboys because then he'd have Jerry Jones butting in all the time
beast (3-Dec) : And Belichick wants an owner that will be hands off and let a head coach fully steer the boat, and supposedly Jaguars owner is hands off
beast (3-Dec) : Jaguars job because it's the closest job that might be available near his house in Jupiter Florida. And Belichick wants an owner that....
Zero2Cool (3-Dec) : No reason to want Jaguars job, or Rodgers.
Zero2Cool (3-Dec) : Doubs still in protocol
Mucky Tundra (3-Dec) : That's an...interesting rumor

Mucky Tundra (1-Dec) : That and just missing some games that were toss ups based on the Vegas line

beast (1-Dec) : I think Packers 1st playoff game might be Packers @ Seahawks, which we'll have in the regular season in two weeks
