Skip Bayless is simply a shock jock. He doesn't believe the schlock he peddles any more than Alan Colmes or Rush Limbaugh do. He just takes a contrarian stance calculated to piss people off. Just watch his facial expressions on TV. He revels in the outrage he provokes. He's paid to be the guy sensible sports fans love to hate.[suicide]

Rodgers would have to throw an average of 3.2 TDs per game over the next 7 games to break 50 TD passes, so it's not looking like that is going to happen. On the other hand, he is currently on pace to throw 49.8 TDs this season, which would shatter the team record.

skippy who? I never think of him. I don't give a rat's ass what he thinks. If he wants Tom let him have him. We got Aaron.

You know how when someone starts talking wild conspiracy theories, you start backing away slowly? Well, do the same with anyone saying that any QB is better than 🇦🇷. They are not right in the head.

This comment  from ESPN.com made me chuckle:

This is when I knew Aaron Rodgers was going to be special;

The year Favre retired..you konw...the first time....he wanted back in GB. Well, reporters were relentlessly asking Rodgers if Favre was coming back.....his response,

"look...I don't know if Brett Favre is retired from football, but he's retired from the Green Bay Packers"

Huge nuts on this guy, and he sure has played like it ever since. Respect they guy...he's the best QB going in the league right now.

Since we’re talking Rodgers over Favre, I’ll just go ahead and leave this here . Nice little video of the highlights from Rodgers' game against the Cowboys after taking over for an injured Favre. Favre played terribly while he was in completing 5/14 for 56 yards 0 TDS and 2 INTs. Rodgers took over with 9:53 left in the second quarter. The Packers were way behind (27-10). Rodgers ended the day 18/26 for 201 yards, 1 TD and 0 INT with the score at 37-27 Dallas. Game center link .

I remember that this was the game that I looked back to the next summer during the whole Favre fiasco. I knew that if Rodgers could play an entire season like he did in a little more than one half of this game that the Packers would be alright.

If you don’t watch this video for anything else, watch for Favre’s face :54 seconds in. Come to think of it, maybe this was the game where Favre decided he was going to force his way out of Green Bay.

I have such fond memories of that game. It's incredible to think he completed 11 passes in a row and 13 of 14. He easily could have had two touchdowns that day had that one defensive back not blasted Kuhn out of the end zone.

I do remember thinking at the time that it was pretty obnoxious that Favre didn't seem at all excited by Rodgers' success in that game. He looked annoyed, if not downright pissed.

Collinsworth's snide little comment that the Packers wouldn't win too many games with Rodgers sure sounds ironic in retrospect, doesn't it?

By the way, here is an interesting nugget from NFL.com :

No team since 1950 has averaged more points per game than Rodgers' Packers (with a minimum of 50 starts):

» Rodgers, Packers: 27.9
» Philip Rivers, Chargers: 27.6
» Otto Graham, Browns: 27.1
» Norm Van Brocklin, L.A. Rams: 27.0
» Brady, Patriots: 26.9

It should also be said the only thing that Favre feared was being replaced like he did to Majkowski and that there motivated him to do whatever it took to stay on the field.

So, was Favre upset because Rodgers was successful? No, not a chance. Now, was he upset that everyone, including fans, media, and the Packers were seeing the talent of Aaron Rodgers during his declining years? Most definitely because it led to his insecurity of being replaced.

Favre and Rodgers, especially in '07 were closer than the media pumps. As I've said many times, happy happy doesn't sell anywhere near as well as angry angry.

Favre was happy for Aaron, but also, I think, for the first time became really threatened ... which I believe lead to his pissed off or annoyed appearance. Also, I agree, with how close they were, he could have shown more excitement to make you happy as I'm sure you viewed a camera that was on him during the entire game to monitor his facial expressions. 🙂

It should be made clear Mike and Ted both were 100% confident with the season Favre had in '07, there was no question he was going to return, hence the lack of wooing.

I don't believe for a second that Brett Favre orchestrated his "break up" with the Packers. The guy is a damn flip flopping fool. He didn't feel the love, was mistakenly RUSHED into making a decision and chose to retire when he obviously wasn't ready to do so. When he wanted to come back and the Packers didn't say "oh ok Brett, job is all yours now", he was offended, hurt and pissed off. Which is why he wanted to prove to the Packers he still had "it".
