From what I saw, and how we heard that he had full movement and no sensory issues, I figured he had a fracture. Good to hear that he doesn't. Sounds like they're holding him out for the season because of what they think they are missing, not what they are seeing.

Terrible news for Collins and GB. I wish him a speedy recovery and healthy future. I am really worried about his neck if they are willing to shelf him right now after only some MRIs and CT scans. Must be something significantly wrong with either his cervical spine or nerve roots to make a call like that. That really sucks.

I think Burnett gets moved to free safety and Peprah plays the strong safety. Both safety have to be able to cover in Capers scheme and need to be able to make open field tackles. Look for us to

Additionally, Woodson could play safety if need be, but I hate taking him away from the slot and the line of scrimmage. Wonder if we bring back Josh Gordy?

Burnett's the real deal, so I think the Packers will be okay. There might be some early communication problems with Peprah and Burnett, though.

However, the real story here is Collins' health. Neck injuries are very serious and the way he went down did not look good. It wasn't one of those violent plays as we saw in the FSU vs. OU game. This was something different. Sometimes the lesser ones turn out more serious. Hopefully this isn't anything that impacts his career or life.

So my guess he decided to try another team or the Packers wanted to try a different guy.

Personally I'm thinking we should do what we did last year... tell one of the CBs to stay practicing at both CB and S and be the emergency Safety. Tramon Williams did it one year before he got to be the nickel guy. Bush has been doing it the past couple of years including last year when they had 3 Safeties. Why not do it again? It also would free up a spot to go after the best person available at any position.

Also Lee isn't progressing at CB so maybe he should try FS? ... he's willing to hit so it might be a good fit for the future for him. Maybe split Bush and Lee at both CB and S? House should probably stick at one position until he's had a chance to learn it very well.

There is the rumor out there that the Jags signed WR West off the Packers practice squad so maybe the Packers can fill that space with the best S they can find?... I thought the rookie Anthony Bratton started out really slow in camp but started to pick it up late. Wouldn't mind bringing him back for the practice squad and see if he keeps growing. Didn't Williams start off on the practice squad?

The most important issue is Nick Collins' health.

Hope he has a full recovery and will be able to come back next year 100%.

Looks like Dom's choices are Peprah or Bush.

I've Seen a lot of speculation that Peprah will be made the starter, I kind of think you will see Jarret Bush out there.

My reasoning is this....Bush can play either S or C, which keeps Dom from having to move Woodson to S, but gives him the option to make that move in certain situations if he wants.

Jarret Bush is not Nick Collins, nor is Charlie Peprah, IMHO Bush is the best option, but I also think if Peprah gets the nod, he will be ready for the challenge.

I believe the impact of losing Collins will be seen in communication errors. Collins was the QB of our secondary; he made the calls and adjustments. While we will miss his athleticism and play-making ability Peprah is still a solid safety and shouldn't be caught out of position too often, although he probably won't be making the big play. I am worried about losing Collins experience in this defense and this league. I was reading today that Peprah was a pretty smart player, and that's what helped him a lot last season so hopefully I'm wrong.

Jarrett Bush can play Safety or Cornerback, so can I, doesn't mean Dom Capers will be giving me a call anytime soon, haha. :P

I won't believe Nick Collins is done until he's on IR! I refuse to believe it! I am in denial and I like it!!

I thought Woodson looked bad doing it... he got the job done but he looked like he was getting hit, banged up and was getting slower and slower as the game went on. He made sure the guy didn't get past him... but he took punishment doing so.

People bring up the idea of moving Woodson to S but honestly I think it's a horrible idea. The best part about Woodson game is his brain to play mind games with the QB... like is the guy open or is he not? At S he's more reacting instead of being proactive and attacking something, which isn't his game.

Bush has back-up S I think two years now, this being his 3rd year if he does it. I think it's probably a good idea to give him and Lee some practice time at both CB and S so they can try to back up both. Nether seems to be improving at CB. Bush found out he's decent at inside nickel... maybe one of them can find out they're good at S? ... and Lee is willing to hit.

I'm just guessing but I'm wondering if they're start Pepreh at SS and Burnett at FS. I think it'd be better as far as their talent. But I'm not sure if Burnett is ready for FS and all the calls he'll have to make. And I'm not sure Peprah has the speed for full time deep guy.

Which I think is where Bush and Woodson came in. But Bush has big problem with fake moves and playing the ball in the air and stopping the defender from getting it. Woodson as I said about looks a whole lot better at CB than FS. Plus Williams isn't a 100% and Shield didn't look that good as the #2 guy against the Panthers.
