How'd Starks look tonight? Even "without" the 40 yarder, he's still got 5.6 per carry. And he was delivering the punishment, knocking guys backward. Looked to me like the pass pro guy too.
Grant had 4.16, not bad for him either.

Grant had a couple nice runs as well and showed more speed than I thought he had. Starks of course, put up the superior performance. Either way, I'm glad we have a two headed running attack and someone that can actually get a big gain after they break through the second level.

Doesnt matter how well Starks does, we have to endure a series or 2 of Grant's mediocrity, which annoys the hell out of me.

Grant was OKAY, but when you have a guy who is BETTER, why not play that guy FIRST and MORE?

Zero was getting into it with me in pre-game about how starting doesnt matter, its all about snaps. Well, when it's 10-0 and your offense hasn't played ONE snap, "Starting" is damn important and you need your best players out there to stop the bleeding.

I hope Mike McCarthy starts Starks from now on and sprinkle in Grant runs, you know, the opposite of how it is now!

Forgive me, but I have to correct sir tromadz. I was not getting into anything. Let's be accurate, okay?

I said Ryan Grant will most likely get the start, which means he's in on the first offensive play. And then said they will each get carries and coach will continue with the hot hand.

Two games in a row, it appears James Starks has the hot hand. I'm with tromadz on starting James Starks. Let's kill early and finish'em off!

I love the way Starks played, but I don't think "starter" means much, what with Starks seeing more action in both games. Teams use multiple running backs these days. Grant will get his, Starks will get his and I think we're better off. That said, I can see McCarthy riding the hot feet. If Starks is killing it early, he'll get a bigger workload. Likewise with Grant.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Like there is one player who is on a streak, but the other is maybe slowed by injuries or something.
This is not a situation like that, imo. I just think Starks is flat out better.

I'm with Porforis on this: I'm glad we have two backs of this caliber. I like Starks and the way he runs, but I don't think he's as assignment sure as Grant (blitz pickups, etc).

Grant had almost 1000 in his first season (shortened), then had over 1200 yards each of the next two seasons until getting injured last year. That's running behind some suspect OLs. He's not going to get yardage like that in the NFL if he's a dud. I like his protection/how he picks up blitzes, and he's got decent hands out of the backfield.

Unless you're advocating benching Grant, if you only run it when Starks is in the game and never run it when Grant's in the game you're going to be tipping off your offense.
Ted Thompson has done an outstanding job getting us two RBs who can step in and carry the load if the other goes down.

Call it what it is. Thinly veiled gloating over Packer not playing well.

Sounds like a Viking fan's tactic.

I think together Grant and Starks are going to put up 1600+ yards.

Personally, I don't care who gets more.

Starks has looked better than Grant in both games, but not by a huge margin, and I have no problem with the way they are being used. Starks is getting more carries late in games, which says a lot, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting some games now as well. But mostly it's great to have two good starting caliber RBs.

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy
Zero2Cool (6-Jan) : didn't have guys in his face ... pressure makes difference
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : how was that not a safety? Goff throws it at an offensive lineman
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero, I thought that was a given! ;)
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Zero I looked through earlier and noticed the same thing. Bonkers year. I just wonder if beast put any money on games
