Come on, now. Olivia looked good in spandex.

Or just about anything else, come to think of it.

Hmm...gotta find that "Ginger/Mary Ann" thread again ... Olivia in spandex or Sheena Easton in spandex? :)

Beast & Zero - Watch the game again. A lot of those sacks and hurries were due to some defensive masterminding. Like one that immediately comes to mind was when the NT dropped back into coverage and the center of the Pats' OL completely disregarded him. Then the NT had a free hit on Brady.

If that isn't a cool chess move....

They were telling the Giants that they essentially were wasting their time trying because they were no match.

I just don't see that game being a chess match, it just wasn't to me, but then again, I've never played chess and perhaps am mistaken when I think a chess match is one person out thinking the other. That didn't happen in that Super Bowl on the level that the game could be labeled a chess match.

I'd like to also say that Ryan Grant makes the Packers more "physical", but I just don't see that. I almost have to believe that opposing defenses would fear Brandon Jackson receiving the ball out of the backfield than they would Ryan Grant running. That probably doesn't make much sense. I don't mean to knock Ryan Grant there either, I just think Brandon Jackson receiving can be a bigger threat than Ryan Grant rushing, even though statistics will surely prove otherwise.

Grant is not as physical as Starks. However, I'd rather have Grant as a starter because heck, I could probably catch Starks from behind. Once Grant busts loose, there ain't nobody catching him. He's got football speed. Like Greg Jennings. Or a better example - Jordy Nelson. Jordy's 40 time isn't anything to raise an eyebrow at yet in the open field, he's hard to catch.

As for Grant's running vs B-Jack's receiving, B-Jack has only had 2 receiving TDs in 4 years with a long of only 37 yards. That's not that impressive. Grant occasionally busts the big ones. B-Jack doesn't.

Anybody that doesn't believe this is a physical game needs to go line up against Lions' Ndamukong Suh and Packers' B.J. Raji... and learn a thing or two...

But football is also a chest match figuring out mismatches and what the best strategy is and what are the best adjustments to things...

It's not one or the other... it's both.

I honestly think there are two different Grants... Grant with a chip on his shoulder who plays GREAT... and Grant with out a chip on his shoulder who goes down with very little contact or fight.

When Grant finally gets totally clear... I'm expecting a chip on his shoulder, not only because Starks and Green might be taking some playing time away from him which I think would be enough to put that chip on his shoulder but also because he's returning from injury (with some doubter) and in a contract year. If that doesn't get him going I don't know what will...

It hurt a lot in short yardage situations. I recall third and threes killing the Packers last year because everyone knew they would have to throw for it.

Also, comparing Grant and Jackson is a joke. First, Grant is a first and second down player whereas Jackson is a third down player. Therefore, they are different types of RBs. Nonetheless, Grant is a far superior runner to Jackson. Remember, Grant beat Jackson out in 07 and his absence clearly saw a dip in not only the rushing yardage, but also yards per attempt.

I don’t think Grant is a top five RB or even top 10, but he’s far more valuable than some Packer fans apparently think.

I did say the stats would prove Brandon Jackson isn't more of a threat receiving than Ryan Grant is rushing. The point I was attempting to make was more specific than I lead on. My thinking was Brandon Jackson receiving on 3rd and 5 is more likely to convert than Ryan Grant in the same scenario rushing the ball. I'm thinking that because if the Packers go 3 WR stretched down it'll put Brandon Jackson on a LB and I'm confident he's capable of converting with that coverage. The aspect I failed to consider is ... the defense doesn't know if it's a pass or run which makes the whole line of thinking rather moot.

But give me a quick passing team over a physical running team any day of the week (if the defenses are the same). I've said this many times. In order of importance:
1) D
2) an elite QB

An good RB is nice to have, but not necessary.

Now back to Ryan Grant - he's a top 10 RB in the NFL. Don't believe me? Check his stats. He consistently gets 1200+ yards and TDs. That's what matters.

As for 3rd and 5, if a Coach doesn't call passing on the majority of 3rd and 5s, he's a fool. No WRs open? Throw it to a RB and pray for 5+ yards.

Where does everyone get this idea that Grant is faster than Starks? LOL.
Alex Green is gonna look good. He's fast. One thing about the running game, imo: It's gonna help us on natural turf. We won the SB with a dome team. Yes, our home field is the frozen tundra. But it's to our disadvantage to actually play in those conditions. Go back and look last year. We blew out the Falcons in their dome. Then we barely squeaked by the Bares at the Mistake by the Lake.
These two new RB are gonna be the real deal, and they are gonna help us alot in those situations. Home field advantage, baby!
Both Starks and Green have more quickness, speed and vision than Grant. Not to mention their receiving ability.

What Starks has over Grant is he hits the hole harder. But in the open field, Starks will be caught. Grant won't.

Grant was #8 in fantasy points in his last full year. He gets yards and TDs and consistently gets long runs.

I do think he'd have racked up another 1,200 yard season if he had been durable enough. And three seasons in a row I'd consider consistent.

40+ 2 carries

2008
20+ 6 carries
40+ 1 carry

2007
20+ 11 carries
40+ 2 carries
