Casey is an ILB in the 3-4 defense and not a 3-4 OLB. So, Casey would ride the bench for the Pack.

You can't trade comp picks, but the Packers didn't draft Kampman under Ted Thompson or from the Javon Walker trade. Mike Sherman actually picked him. One of the few quality picks he made. Thought that was worth pointing out.

Kampman was a great pick and a great player for us for a long time. Made a couple Pro Bowls and was 2nd team All Pro one year. One of the BEST run stopping DEs of the past decade. I hope he retires as a Packer.

Another great Sherman pick was Scott Wells (pick 251 out of 255). He has started 84 for the Packers over since 2004. He also arguably had his best season last year. Smart as they come.

Kampy was a Sherman pick, but Ted Thompson did pay him, did he not? He did get a new contract between the time Sherman was here and when he left, iirc, so from that standpoint he could be considered a "TT guy."

Aaron Kampman resigned with the Packers I think it was within a half hour of the opening of free agency.

I don't know what Minnesota offered, or if anyone laughed, but I believe Andrew Brandt had wrote an article stating Cullen Jenkins resigned with the Packers within an hour of free agency, so whatever the Vikings did or didn't do, doesn't change what I said. :xcensoredx:

For those who do not remember, in 2002 Sherman got impatient, and traded 1st (28) and 2nd round (60) picks to move up and get Seattle's 1st round (20) and a 5th round pick (156).

Green Bay got Walker and Kampmann with the Seattle picks.
Seattle got Jeremy Stevens and Anton Palepoi with the Packer picks.

That year Sherman outtraded Ted Thompson and may have outdrafted him.

Thompson - Jeremy Stevens TE, Maurice Morris RB, Anton Palepoi DE, Kris Richard DB, Terreal Bierra DB, Rocy Bernard DT, Ryan Hannam TE, Matt Hill OT, Craig Jarrett P.

Sherman - Javon Walker WR, Marques Anderson DB, Najeh Davenport RB, Aaron Kampmann DE, Craig Nall QB, Mike Houghton OT.

I don't think you can say that the Seattle selections were all Ted's doing. I think part of his dissatisfaction with Seattle is that they had a sort of Triumvirate in place and he didn't actually have the authority to draft the team he wanted. Holmgren was a part of the "team" as was someone else. Thus Ted was more tha willing to leave Seattle and come to GB.
I am not saying that Mike McCarthy does not have input into the GB selections. I am saying Ted has less in Seattle.

I'm fine with saying Sherman out did Thompson in '02. Works for me, especially since Thompson has a ring thus the '02 don't mean squat to anyone and not sure why we're talking about it. It's cool though, I got nothing better. 🙂

Likewise I don't mind giving kudos to Shem for the draft. I am just saying Uncle Ted might have lost out on getting a player or two that year that he wanted. And maybe not. Perhaps that has his "MBA years" And the mistakes he made back then made his a better GM in GB.

beast (8-Jan) : Jerry Jones still hasn't put Jimmy Johnson in the Ring of Honor, but he's in the NFL's Hall of Fame, Jones is petty
Mucky Tundra (8-Jan) : Unless the Cowboys are planning an extension, seems kinda petty

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Oh so the refs do know what intentional grounding is
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : what the hell was that Goff?! Not much pressure and he just air mails it to Harrison
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : They really need to to get rid of the auto first down for illegal contact
Martha Careful (6-Jan) : watching the Vikings and Lions it's understandable why they swept the Packers. So much better product
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Even when GB got pressure he was throwing darts; vs no pressure on that last pass he just air mails an open guy

Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : Where was this Darnold vs GB?
Mucky Tundra (6-Jan) : BALL DON'T LIE
