Fact is, these changes SHOULD have been put in place long ago. If they had, the state wouldn't be in the financial mess it's in now.
"Paid sick days".....how many non public workers get any of those? I don't know of ANYONE that does. There may be some on this site. If so, i'd like to hear from them.
Finally we get a governor that wants to actually do something to at least TRY to get the state financially under control, and a small set of people want his head on a platter.
For years i have heard people crying about high taxes and how someone should do something about it. FINALLY someone is trying.
That's how i feel, at least.

I did, lots of jobs where I collected a wide variety of name tags. About all I accomplished in life back then was renting an apartment, paying my bar tab, and leaching meals off the wide assortment of ladies I conquested.

Any professional leve job has vacation and sick leave benefits, a 401K, an 80-20 health care plan; and they pay more than the people that settle for a career at the state. But I forgot - every Wisconsin state employee has six figure income. :)

Face it Cheesey, your governor is a puppet to people have accepted a lot more corporate welfare, and tax breaks (favors). That's the reason you are running budget deficits. Then they want to pick out state employees as their patsies - it's sickening. What's more appalling is a common person like you is sucked into their brainwashing. If Wisconsin is truly interested in balancing their budget - they would step up compliance on all the back taxes and tax evasion that have fallen through the cracks over the years, instead of balancing the budget on the backs of their employees.

I bet almost ALL states are bankrupt. Wisconsin is just one of the few that are trying to do something about it, without raising the taxes of people like me.
Yes, i'm also sure that if you are a "professional" you get all kinds of perks that the average workers don't get.
But in the end, who pays for the sick days of public workers? It's on the back of people like me.
They are pushing to make it that all companies in Milwaukee county will have to pay "sick days" to their workers. Can you imagine the backlash on that? How many businesses will move out of the county because they can't afford that? Or how many people may end up permanently laid off because of it? Of course if you are one of the "higher ups" that get said benefits, who cares if some poor worker gets a pink slip? That's THEIR problem, right?
It's typical.......as my late father in law used to say, "In today's world, it's hooray for me, and F**K you!"
People look out for "Number one", while treating others like "Number Two".

I can't think of anyone running on raising taxes on people like you. Unless I'm mistaken, but based on your posts, you don't strike me as someone running a big business or making hundreds of thousands of dollars. Or even millions.

This is as much about the 2012 elections as anything IMO.

No, i'm several millions short of being a millionaire.
But fact is, if we got to keep even 90% of the money my wife earns, we could afford to own a nice house and a new car, instead of having to buy old/used cars and live in a old run down townhouse.
But with all the taxes and add on top of that health insurance, she takes home about as much as a McDonald's worker gets hourly. That's just not right.
Where the hell is all that money going?
You see, there's been no ACCOUNTABILITY in our government as far as our tax money goes. So they don't care if they spend like drunken sailors, as hell, it's not coming out of THEIR pockets!

In addition to all other Wisconsin problems...looks like the state of cheeseheads are welshers, mooches and ne'er-do-well's of the lowest order.
Surprise....surprise.... there's a real shocker.

Minnesota governor to Wisconsin: Pay up!
Wisconsin must immediately cough up more than $58 million, Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton is telling Wisconsin....Wisconsin owed the money to Minnesota as of Dec. 1. Wisconsin taxpayers will pay the price for not paying on time to the tune of $4,584 a day in interest.

That interest will add up to about $1 million if cash-strapped Wisconsin makes the payments after the new fiscal year starts July 1.....

.....Since 1967, Minnesota and Wisconsin had a deal that allowed residents who live in one state but work in the other to file a tax return only in the state where they live. But Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty withdrew from the deal because he said Wisconsin was too slow to make payments.

The deal was terminated for the 2010 tax year, and this April 15 will be the first time taxpayers who commute from one state to the other will have to file two state returns......

Man VR, Minnesota is the only righteous state in the upper Midwest? You must be so proud.

Cheesey there are several states that are in the black, mine being one. We have so much oil revenue, that we are cutting back our income taxes and giving property tax relief. The state has also created a huge rainy day fund. I think Wyoming and Alaska are similar to us because of fossil energies. I know we're helping to kill the earth.

Cheesey, I don't understand your politics at all. I know if I had your health probems I would be captain democrat right now, and accept every social program available. Cheesey, I pay my taxes without bitching, for people just like you! And when my body starts failing me, then I need people to support me with their taxes. That's just how things are set up. We don't send our sick to Siberia to die, we take care of them; but then I already live in Siberia don't I. :)

Your governor is a patsy for the agenda that the people who supported him want. Had he run for election on the promise of busting Wisconsin's collective bargaining process, there is no way in hell he would have been elected. I think the far right has taken this shit way too far this time and they will have their asses handed them in the 2012 election. Time will tell.

Let me see if i got this straight DT....
A. North Dakota has a monetary surplus.
B. North Dakota has a savings plan.
Cool....good for you...but hey.... wait a minute...

C. North Dakota still gets back about $2 in federal money for every $1 that it pays in(spell that leeching off of the rest of the country that can't afford it)
D. North Dakota received in excess of 650 million dollars in stimulus monies(once again paid for by the rest of the country) .
E. North Dakota Legislature "Hey, we can cut state taxes on our own cause we can steal from the rest of the country"

So in summary what you are saying is that North Dakota's attitude is:
"Ya, we've got our own money, but we want all of yours as well"

Peace Garden state my ass....thieving Riff-Raff of the lowest order is more like it.
You guys make the Wall Street boys look like philanthropists

To quote you DT..."you must be so proud"

VR - why don't you ever break down that Federal Pork and show where it is really going - to the farmers in the form of subsidies - who never pay taxes in any way shape or form. The rest of North Dakotans who work regular jobs are just like everyone else.

It's funny how you continuously describe us as hillbilly rubes, yet we're smart enough to balance a budget and maintain a pretty high standard of living. As a matter of fact, I am proud to live here. At least my kids can walk down the street without fear, and we can breathe the air.

VR you probably subscribe to the thinking that the Vikings are a winning franchise because their lifetime record is above .500. Stats are for jagoffs.
