James Jones is a hit or miss for the Packers. They can surely use him, but I think they can manage without him as well.
I don't like that he uses #'s as far as depth because as previously discussed, do we really have a depth chart at wide receiver other than Greg Jennings being #1 and Brett Swain being #5? Also, he shouldn't make comparisons with Donald Driver because Driver takes the routes that receivers usually don't have the balls to run.
James Jones is more about the money than he is about winning. If a struggling team like Carolina offered James Jones starter money and an actual starting position (an offer Ted Thompson would refuse to match), James Jones would probably be the happiest man in the world knowing the cash he is going to make and not give a damn about how many games his team loses. He just kind of comes off as that type of player.
James Jones is a big threat when Jermichael Finley is not on the field. Let's face it, as of now I believe Jermichael Finley is injury prone. If Finley goes down again next year and Jones is gone, thats a double whammy for our receiving core. Jones was able to add to the passing game with no Finley around.
Now if Finley is able to stick around an entire season, Jones can go where ever he wants to because each receiver (accept Jennings) will most likely see a dramatic decrease in their number of receptions.
Personally, I have gone back and forth on Jones and I hope he is able to stay. There isn't much talent that can be taken in the later rounds of the draft to make up for the loss of Jones.
