"Abolishing unions". I keep hearing that. It ONLY affects the public sector. The unions still can get plenty of money from the private sector.

Same with the "He's attacking the middle class!" Such biased speach should be seen for what it is.

I DO have an easy solution for all those public workers who feel they are getting SOOOO badly shafted.
There's no law that says you have to keep your public job. If it's such a bad deal, you CAN quit you know, and go and look for a job in the private sector.
Of course, even with the cuts, the public workers know just how sweet a deal they still have, and won't quit because of the cuts.
Lets see just how many years you would have to work to get the wage, benefits and pension that you are/will get.
That's right.....chances sre you could work 40 years and not get what you are still going to get in the jobs you currently have.
When times are tough, you have to make cuts, or just keep spiraling deeper into debt. Is that what these people really want?
The ones that are protesting the cuts are the same people that cry about "global warming" and how if we don't do something now, future generations will suffer. What about the debt piling up for the future generations of Wisconsinites??? Yeah.....when it actually has to come out of THEIR pockets, their attitude changes.
And again, fact is, it's not like Walker is asking these people to work for peanuts.
Finally we have someone in office with the balls to actually try to do something about the debt Wisconsin is piling up, and the usual suspects want to kill the guy.
And people wonder why no one wants to actually go against the "same old same old" in politics. Just try it, and you will be called "Adolph Hitler".

That is pretty far rightwing ideology.

The union has conceded that they are willing to pay more. Theyre also willing to have their bargaining suspended on health care and pension plans. In other words, they are willing to do their part.

If it were truly just about balancing the budget, there would be a willingness to compromise. Unions have loss all their rights except for wages. Some of those rights went too far. Not all did.

This was a political move by Scott Walker. Even the state senate majority leader hinted as much. You hurt the unions and you hurt Obama in 2012. Walker is proving that he isnt any different than any other politician. He is putting his party first.

The bill he signed would still allow state, municipal and school workers to bargain over their wages, but any raises beyond the rate of inflation would require a voter referendum. The repeal of most collective bargaining would not apply to unions representing local police, firefighters and State Patrol troopers

If I am paying for the teachers salaries, shouldnt there be a system in place to say if they get a raise or not?

Or should I just take for granted a union rep will make the right call

No offense longtime, I appreciate the link about Walker not campaigning on union busting, I was just trying to point out that your original link was post election, that's all.

As far as having a say in public employees compensation goes, I saw an interesting reply on a political blog that went something like this:

2011 - people making $30,000 a year complaining about people who make $40,000 a year

2012 - people making $20,000 a year complaining about people who make $30,000 a year

2013 - people making $10,000 a year complaining about people who make $20,000 a year

you get the gist. It's a bit of an over-simplification of the issue but my point is, in an earlier post I mentioned that 400 Individuals control more wealth than 55% of families in this country, Exxon and other major corporations pay NO income tax and receive massive subsidies from the government, the average CEO makes close to 300 times what the average employee makes yet they've somehow convinced the general public that teachers pensions and right to collectively bargain is bankrupting our states.
IT IS A LIE!

And they are laughing all the way to the bank.

And now the policemen and firefighters are threatening to boycott businesses who do not take a public stand against Governor Walker. So much for public servants.

They just lost whatever shred of credibility they had in my eyes and whatever sympathy I had left for them.

Solidarity is the backbone of Unions, this is neither shocking nor out of the ordinary for a union to boycott companies. Being that M&I is a financial services corporation, it may have something to do with the various unions own financial resources and would be a logical step for said unions to find out if their money is managed by a company that supports Walkers/Koch Bros. power grab. If it's the case, why would the unions pay these people?

I also think that it's a pretty ballsy move for the police & firefighters unions, whose own ability to bargain wasn't snatched from them, to stand with their fellow unions against the sham that Walker/Koch Bros. are perpetrating.

Who knows for sure what the impetus behind this letter was, but I imagine this effort is in the best interests of the people whose livelihood is being attacked.

And Longtime, it's ridiculous to think these people would not do their jobs if their emergency services were needed.

Serious insight from Mr. Dingus. I really feel bad for a lot of people suckered into following the Tea Party because they are genuinely good people who are being controlled by the puppet masters with all the wealth. Basically they are unpaid muscle doing the dirty work of the wealthy.

Most people don't understand to vote their income bracket. They are coerced into believing they too could one day have that ultimate American Dream where they own a thriving business, and how can you possibly unfairly raise the tax on that wealthy business man? Because that wealthy business man inherited that business from his wealthy father who inherited it from his father. Is some of that wealth ill conceived, was it made on the backs and sweat of underpaid men and women? You bet your ass it was.

Formo always calls me a socialist. I am no goddamn socialist but I do believe strongly in right and wrong, and if you dig deep enough into the wealth of the top 10% of this country, you are going to find a lot of wrong. I want to live to see these people pay deerly for their "ethics or lack of". There is a revolution coming in this country - the poor are sick to death of being poor and the middle class is tired of paying all the bills. Take a stand anywhere you want, but at least take the time to understand who the truly evil people are. It's not the ones collecting welfare checks with broken spirits either - they are the victims.

"DakotaT" wrote:

Just saw this.. And your post is so full of fail is saddens me. Apparently you missed the point of the 'Tea Party'. It's not about the 'big wigs' forming a group to get more money or whatever it is you think are want, from the little guy. It's about a group of people, not associated with any political party, that endorses reduced government spending, opposition to taxation in varying degrees, reduction of the national debt and federal budget deficit, and adherence to an originalist interpretation of the United States Constitution. It's more so a mindset than any sort of 'party' or 'rebrand'.

Do you realize how little wealth is actually passed down? Don't click here if you want your cute little post to be blown up.

And your stance that all the rich are evil and all the poor/middle class are the 'good' is seriously out of whack. And is the source of why I call you a socialist. You'd be completely happy if some great 'power' took the money from said rich and gave it to the poor. Right and wrong? Dude, that's WRONG.

I don't pay attention to any of the cable news networks, I'm perfectly capable of researching issues that effect me without being handed a line by Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes and the collection of talking heads assembled for Fox News, or the corporate overlords at msnbc, cnn or the main stream media (progressive they are not).

I also take history into account when I form my opinions and although I'd never call my self an intellectual I am capable of critical thought.

Did you bother to watch the clip from the Daily Show that was posted? If so, what's your opinion of the hypocrisy on display? Is the message the Fox News Reporters are spinning an asset to our political process or is it detrimental.

Or is it just easier to say things like "And the other 'news' machines DON'T spin their own propaganda?!"?

Really Dude?

Don't worry, I don't really expect a reply, I've been reading your posts long enough to know your take anyway.
