Belicheck also made a team out of no names like Ben Garvis Green and Woodhead or whoever the hell the guy they got from the Jets was

McCarthy can't win without a team full of tested, overpaid veterans!

How many star players do the Patriots have? They've got Brady and Wes Welker on offense, although Welker was coming off an injury and probably not 100%. They have a very good O-line too, I'll give them that. On defense, they've got Vince Wilfork and who else? It was impressive what the Patriots did with mostly a young, no-name defense.

So, what you're saying is, they have a veteran QB and a star O line, and a reliable guy to catch the ball. They don't have our WRs but they have everything else that's key to a productive offense.
Where I think McCarthy deserves more credit is on the defensive side of the ball. Unless I'm mistaken, we've lost a lot more players on defense since the beginning of the year on the defensive side of the ball than NE has. When you have an entire offseason to prepare, it's a lot easier to mold your team into a cohesive, functional unit than it is with a flurry of injuries midseason. This team plays as a team, and a lot of these players had never worn a Packers jersey at the beginning of the season.
That fact alone should get McCarthy at least one vote. I'm not going to argue that Bellicheck doesn't deserve the award, but McCarthy getting no votes is BS. That being said, I'd much rather he have a superbowl ring.
