Chin up and forward, Dakota. The strength and resilience you and Mia display are inspiring. Hell, Lombardi would be proud!!

But when I think about what Mia has endured, I usually shed a few tears. 3 or 4 months ago I had no tolerance for anyone whining about anything. That's starting to subside now so you guys can go back to bitching about point of taxation, crooked politicians, sexual ineptness, or whatever dumb shit topic we bring up in here and I won't get all Red Foreman on anyone.

Oh Man I was liking that guy 😞 Great news about Mia, just think in a few years she will be asking about boys 😉
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

FU both! Little fvking bastards are going to have to climb over the razor wire on top of the fence to sneak them out. All three are going to be thin blonde girls and if they are like Mrs. D will have big racks. Hopefully, unlike Mrs. D, they won't be so damn gullible.

You bastards had to take me there didn't ya?

Hey, go ahead and be Red. Its nice to know that ND is not just a bunch of idiots, that it actually has assholes, too. Plus you keep those of us who like to go on and on about said dumb shit topics honest.

And you and Mia have been a great example for the rest of us. The real examples aren't "action heros". The real examples are everyday people who deal well with the shit parts of life.

As you have consistently done in the time I've known you.

And I'm really glad to hear that the treatments are progressing well.

Dakota, I am so sorry to hear what Mia and your family have been through. I don't know what to say. Just sat staring at the screen for about 15 minutes. We have one child, and almost lost him before we had him, and your story brought back a lot of those memories. We will be pulling for Mia.

Mia and all of your family have been in my prayers Troy.
It is a most fervent wish of mine that Mia grow to be a fine young woman and have a long and very happy life.

May she live all her dreams and perhaps someday meet a fine young Vikings fan from Minnesota and give you a grandchild or two.

You will no doubt become an even grumpier old man by then..... but you will make a very good Grandfather.

This is the stuff that can break 40 year olds. It's amazing to see how well a 6 year old is handling all of this.

The only somewhat positive here is that, if you battle through adversity like this and stay together as a family, you can pretty much take anything. If your girl can life through this and keep smiling and stay positive, she's stronger than most.

I think we'll all be pulling for her, but from how you've described her, I doubt she even needs it.

I really appreciate everyone's kind thoughts and words of encouragement. You guys give me the lift I need, which is why I chose to include you all in this journey.

The day we found out that Mia had the tumor, we wept and wept. Naturally I couldn't sleep so I surfed the tube like any other night and the movie "My Sister's Keeper" was on HBO; so I watched it and wept quite a bit more. But what I took away from that movie was not that my daughter was given a death sentence; it was that it is my job to give her the best life she can have for as long as that may be.

Now we were told by the team of doctors in Rochester that we could expect Mia to make a full recovery from this cancer, which is what we pray for, and so far everything is lining up that way. But with all the time that has passed, I have come to terms that it is a good possibility that Mia: will not live a long life, maybe not be priviliged to have her own children, enjoy the same childhood as her sisters; or that I will have to do the hardest thing for a parent - burying your own child.

These are consuming thoughts that I will be burdened with until I pass on some day. And the most incredible aspect through all of this is that we are actually lucky because the tumor could have been caught too late and her prognosis could have been much more bleak.

Now some of you have gone on how we are an inspiration, and I don't know that I'm confortable with that, because I've seen worse suffering than Mia's. There are so many more children in more fragile situations. If there is a silver lining to this dilemma, it's probably that I've re-realized how precious life is. Somewhere along the line, between mortgages and child care costs, I had forgotten about precious life and had basically lost my soul. I have been recharged spiritially and emotionally. I've become a better husband and father.

Thanks again for being good, kind, decent people in a world that lacks decency.
