Well, here we sit again in the hospital for round 5 of Mia's chemo treatments. This has really gotten to be old hat, and Mia continues to respond favorably to the treatments. Obviously, it knocks her back a little bit, especially when her blood counts are low - but for the most part, she's kicking ass.

We started physical therapy last week and at first Mia didn't care for it at all, but when she realized after a few days that the stretching made her legs feel better, she doesn't mind doing it at all. Daddy had to make a deal with her that his fat ass has to do push ups and sit ups when she does her work. Her sisters and Mom help out too and now that the weather is finally ready to turn we can start more outdoor activities.

Throughout this whole process, the family has really gone through some changes and for the better. I've done more soul searching this year than ever in my life, I can't help but think about how really good we had things, but didn't appreciate them. Julie and I are so much more in tune with reality than ever before. We don't take anything for granted any more, especially each other. Thanks everyone for helping me deal with all this.

Good news Troy.

I will not tell you to give Mia a hug or that she is in my prayers, as that is a given.

This time I would like you give give your other two daughters a big hug from this crusty old Vikings fan, as they too are going through this along with Mia.

And what you and your wife have come to understand is priceless.
Don't know if I could handle it as well as you and wife have. I know that you have very likely had some very tough/rough times, but my thoughts are that you guys are dealing with it better that most.

And while we have never met, I would consider it a privilege to do so.
Of course thae doesn't mean we'll be swappin' spit in the shower. ::wink:

Well maybe you me and Formo will need to make it a threesome in Minneapolis next fall when the Pack smacks the shit out of the Queens.

And to you Julie, I know what it is to have a dehydrated kid with the flu in the hospital too. Mia spent 4 days there when she was three, and though it wasn't watching your kid come back from the operating table with a ten inch incision on the back of her skull; it is always tramatic seeing your child hooked up to IVs. Mrs. Dakota and I have become pretty numb to all of it, we are just tired people and poor little Mia wants to be done because she is sick of chemo, transfusions, sore muscles, and being bald.

This is all a means to an end because the tumor is gone and after 2 MRI's there's nothing coming back. The precautionary chemo will be over in September and this nightmare will come to an end. There is going to be a happy ending for us, it is just hard to endure watching your child suffer at the ripe old age of 6, when all she should be dealing with is scraped knees and yucky boy germs.

I get pretty frustrated lately when I listen to people complain to what I think is frivilous BS, so I aplogize if I'm short with some of you when we argue in various threads. It's nothing personal, I'm just stressed out and exhausted.

Glad to hear the MRIs are coming up clean. And glad the chemo nightmare will be over in a few months. That'll drop the stress levels down closer to the normal worrying-about-your-kids level. Almost losing a family member can make someone a little obsessive thinking about losing a family member, though. It doesn't ever completely go away.
