Haven't given an update on her in a while. As you remember, she got a tumor on her thyroid last year around this time and we had to go to Mayo for another surgery. Well, this year, she has a small spot on a lymph node that we have to go to Mayo later this week to get checked out. Ultrasound first, and if they can't determine what the spot is, biopsy, and if malignant, surgery to remove the lymph node.

Now most parents would probably be freaking right about now, but this whole thing is pretty much a layup for us compared to the brain tumor, chemo, radiation and a year of physical therapy she went through five years ago. I just get a little frustrated with it all because it is something constant in the back of your mind.

I've raised a pretty strong family that has endured unusual problems. And this week is just another chapter in it all. I hope you parents out there never take your children's health for granted. Maybe we could get a few prayers for her this week from all of you. Thanks!

You may be whacked on the unimportant stuff (e.g. politics and some economics), but where it matters, you aren't. Because one thing you are, and why you have taught me so much over the years, is that you are a great, strong, and all-around much-to-be-admired father.

Best,

Dakota, your family is in my thoughts. I hope nothing but the best for Mia. Her strength is an inspiration to us all.

Just got back from Rochester. There was no tumor. I like false alarms like these.
