But really, without the game being played, we're never going to know, so there's not a whole lot of traction to argue about it...

I was happy with the coaching - not something I have complimented much this year. More rushing has really made this offense more dangerous the past 2 weeks. All season we have been angry about the lack of ground attack - they started running the ball more, and it is obvious that the offense benefitted from it!

The D as a whole was quite impressive. When they failed to get pressure on Manning, the secondary held up their end and still made plays. This is a D that seems to continue to improve and impress! I miss seeing Harris playing at CB, but Williams has been truely amazing this year!

They didn't quit in the 4th, and that is what impressed me the most. Playing the full 60 minutes without letting off the throttle puts a smile on every fan's face.

The only things that scare me now are the dropped passes and special teams. We got away some drops against the Giants, but it costed us against Detroit and New England. As far as special teams - looked a little better, but I wish we had a return guy that would run FORWARD!

Thank you Packers for playing like you have a pair, and hope to see the same against the Bears! Way to go McCarthy and company - thats how you step on their neck!

Giants beat the Patriots because of their pass rush, which we did not have and would have lost against the Patriots.

I think I'd have liked to seen it played out instead of not knowing.

You must be confusing years. We didn't have a pass rush in '08. In '07, Kampy was a Pro Bowler. KGB hadn't lost it yet (he had 9.5 sacks), and C Williams had 7 from up the middle. We would have gotten in Brady's face.

We also could have kept up with their scoring machine. Favre was on fire and Grant had the best year he's ever had, averaging 5.1 ypc and 956 yards, 8 TDs in only 7 games started.

I think we were well matched, homerism aside.

The pass rush was great in the first 10 games, but it tailored off near the end of the year.

With that said, I think the Packers had the offense to score with New England. In fact, I think they stood a chance. New England was dealing with a ton of pressure. The perfect season and even the video taping scandal.

GB would have made it a game and NE's distractions may of put the Packers over the top.

Giants players said that the Patriots were telling them to get off the field, you can't win, give up now, throughout most of the game, even going into the fourth quarter.

They did have a lot of pressure, but I don't buy that as a reason they lost.

The Giants needed a miraculous pocket presence by Eli Manning and a once in a lifetime catch in order to pull off the upset.

I would love to sit here in green an gold goggles an say we'd have won, I just don't think so. I do think since it was not sub degree temperatures that we surely would have made a game out of it.

I'd be more comfortable letting Jordy go. The reason Jones is so inconsistent is because he's the #3 receiver. Move him up, give him more opportunities, and he'll produce more.

Aaron Rodgers is the kind of QB smart enough to use everything he has at his disposal. This wasn't the case early on in the season, since he kept forcing balls to Finley.

Until now, Jones' is best year was his rookie year and that was way back when Favre played. The man's favorite receiver was Driver, so he obviously had more opportunities, while Jennings was being the recipient for all of Favre's milestone passes.

Going back to the subject at hand: McCarthy called an excellent game today, and his mean Pittsburgh background finally reared its ugly head. This team, aside from the lack of a dangerous running game, looks better than it did in the 2007 campaign, and we all know how great that team was. I've always been about the "kick em while they're down" mentality, and Green Bay needs to continue this aggressive surge on the league.

The bolded part is exactly what I've been saying. If he gets consistent reps as a starter he'll probably perform a lot better. I don't understand why we'd give up on Jones with all the talent he's showcased. Even though he's dropped some big-play catches the fact is that he was there to make the play. If he can just right the ship and start catching more balls (which shouldn't be too hard to fix) he'll be a key cog in our passing game in the future.

Everyone suddenly loves Mike McCarthy, but can someone please explain how the game called against the Giants was any different than against the Patriots? 50-50 mix run v. pass, emphasis on quick release throws in 1-2 reads to nullify pass rush, virtually all passes within 10 yards...I'm perplexed.

Apparently when he calls the "hey, lets win today" passes he becomes a genius, and when he calls the "awww f it, lets lose today" runs he's a doofus!

What the hell are you saying here? I don't think anyone bitched about the game plan of last week, or this week and in fact most say WHY DON'T WE HAVE THIS GAME PLAN EVERY WEEK?

I'm perplexed.

The Packers used a more aggressive approach against the Giants. By that, they went down the field more often. Against New England, they tailored the offense to Matt Flynn's skills. Rodgers has a strong arm. He gets more velocity on the ball than Flynn. He can make the deep throws look easy. Flynn worked the short game more than Rodgers did. Checked it down and threw 10-15 yards down the field.

So, the passing game was somewhat different, but the pass/run ratio was about the same. I suspect he'll do the same thing against Chicago next week.

My point is that for the most part we had a similar game plan the last two weeks. I still contend that we stuck to a short passing attack save for some adjustments by Rodgers at the line. 2 weeks ago everyone and their grandma was begging for McCarthy to get fired. This week he's a genius (although still maybe deserves to be fired???).

You saying that we had a good game plan the last two weeks and people still want him fired? If that's your thinking, I would have to say people that want him fired for not doing this since day one, err week one and it has nothing to do with the performance of the last two weeks.

beast (30-Dec) : Well, Commanders are currently the 6th seed and Packers the 7th
beast (30-Dec) : Who was it in Chat, that wanted the Vikings to win (because Lions fans upset them) because Packers could not lose the 6th seed?
beast (30-Dec) : If Falcons win, Packers stay as the 6th seed and Falcons lead the NFCS, if they lose, Commanders 6th and Bucs take NFCS lead
beast (30-Dec) : Win or Loss, the NFCS is going down to week 18
Mucky Tundra (30-Dec) : if the Falcons win, how does that affect the overall NFC playoff picture? Does it mean that the NFC South comes down to week 18?
beast (30-Dec) : If Commanders win, the Packers drop to the 7th seed
