That was great coaching by Mike to keep aaron passing and spreading the ball around. We even mixed in a couple runs that got decent yardage but hey we can't complain. We made a statement today and it starts with the coach making the decision for us to keep the pressure on.

What do you have against the WR situation?

I don't know if Nonstop agrees, but my faith in Jones as a viable replacement for Driver is dwindling. I've been as big an advocate of his as anyone, but his ill-timed drop/fumble each game, much like a Clifton false start have become too common.
But this is a great day so I don't mean to introduce doom and gloom. Great dominating performance, and I'd add this is a notch in the "big game victory" belt for both Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy.

Heres the thing about Jones, he has all the talent in the world and can make all the plays asked of him, his flaw is his drops. But you can fix that, you can't fix a lack of talent. He knows it's a problem and I expect him to fix it by next season.

He certainly didn't show those flaws today. It is just one game and he is still growing as a coach, but it is nice to see progress in the way he's coached the game. I don't care what anyone says, I have seen him grow as a coach since the Tampa Bay loss of last season. That was a turning point for him. He's had stumbles since then, but he always manages to right the ship in time for a must-win game.

"porky88" wrote:

I fully agree with that. I've said earlier I trust Mike in must win games, far more than games we are strongly expected to win.

I have to say, huge huge huge Thumbs Up for Mike McCarthy. When we were up by 2 TDs with like 8 minutes left, a lot of coaches run twice and pass once just to kill the clock some more but he went for the throat and continued the passing because it was working! Sounds obvious but enough coaches don't have the guts to do it.

Yes, I was saying in the chat that we were Bill Belichicking the Giants. I was loving it. Revenge for taking away our Lombardi Trophy in 2007. I honestly thought we'd beat the Patriots that year. We were well matched against them. Al Harris was still elite and so was Woody. Kampy was a beast and would have gotten through even the Pats elite OL. Favre had his best year since '97. That was our year.

Giants beat the Patriots because of their pass rush, which we did not have and would have lost against the Patriots.

I think I'd have liked to seen it played out instead of not knowing.

I'd be more comfortable letting Jordy go. The reason Jones is so inconsistent is because he's the #3 receiver. Move him up, give him more opportunities, and he'll produce more.

Aaron Rodgers is the kind of QB smart enough to use everything he has at his disposal. This wasn't the case early on in the season, since he kept forcing balls to Finley.

Until now, Jones' is best year was his rookie year and that was way back when Favre played. The man's favorite receiver was Driver, so he obviously had more opportunities, while Jennings was being the recipient for all of Favre's milestone passes.

Going back to the subject at hand: McCarthy called an excellent game today, and his mean Pittsburgh background finally reared its ugly head. This team, aside from the lack of a dangerous running game, looks better than it did in the 2007 campaign, and we all know how great that team was. I've always been about the "kick em while they're down" mentality, and Green Bay needs to continue this aggressive surge on the league.

You must be confusing years. We didn't have a pass rush in '08. In '07, Kampy was a Pro Bowler. KGB hadn't lost it yet (he had 9.5 sacks), and C Williams had 7 from up the middle. We would have gotten in Brady's face.

We also could have kept up with their scoring machine. Favre was on fire and Grant had the best year he's ever had, averaging 5.1 ypc and 956 yards, 8 TDs in only 7 games started.

I think we were well matched, homerism aside.

Again, our pass rush was not that of the Giants.
Again, I'd rather have seen it played out and known for sure.

Homerism aside my white keester.

Zombie-It would have been a good matchup, but I agree with Z2C on this one. Giants won because of their ferocious pass rush. Ours was good, but not on the par with the Giants. But really, without the game being played, we're never going to know, so there's not a whole lot of traction to argue about it...

TheKanataThrilla (15h) : That was terrible.
TheKanataThrilla (15h) : Watching that game in its entirety yesterday is proof positive that I am a football addict.
beast (16h) : And horrible time management multiple times... and not being able to score more than 3 points on a team with talent
beast (16h) : Realizing the Bears didn't fix it from the previous week and do the same thing, getting the game to overtime
beast (16h) : They probably are not tanking, but they've absolutely mismanagement some things, such as Vikings seeing the Packers blocked FG and realizing
Zero2Cool (16h) : Crazy of Bears to have that mindset that is
Zero2Cool (17h) : Hail Mary stop away from 5 - 2. Not sure how that flips to tanking. Crazy mindset if true
beast (17h) : I've quietly questioned if Bears are tanking on purpose... they suddenly got a lot worse with some simple concepts like 101 clock management
wpr (19h) : Watching bares fans melt down over how putrid their team is, so enjoyable. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
Mucky Tundra (27-Dec) : The Seattle Seahawks defeat the Chicago Bears 6-3. Jason Myers had 6 RBIs for Seattle while Cairo Santos had 3 RBI for Chicago
beast (27-Dec) : Not nessarily, he might of been injured either way. He's playing about 50% of the games the last 4 years
Zero2Cool (26-Dec) : If they'd been more patient with him, he'd be back already. Putting him out there vs Bears caused him to tweak it and here we are.
packerfanoutwest (26-Dec) : well this is his last season with the PAck, book it
beast (26-Dec) : Sounds like no Alexander (again), I'm wondering if his time with the Packers is done
Zero2Cool (26-Dec) : Could ban beast and I still don't think anyone catches him.

packerfanoutwest (25-Dec) : Feliz Navidad!
Zero2Cool (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas!
beast (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
beast (24-Dec) : Sounds like no serious injuries from the Saints game and Jacobs and Watson should play in the Vikings game
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (24-Dec) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
Zero2Cool (24-Dec) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
