i'd also like to add....

how would you feel if you coded on a project for 15 years. right when it is about to become the best piece of software in the industry, you are fired.

you are given a great severance package, and your office is immediately cleaned out.

and oh yeah, the people who fired you say, we don't want you working here anymore, and also, we do not want you working for our competition either, 'cause we said so.

we'll pay you to just ride your tractor and wave at people, and you be happy with that.

how does that sound to you?? pretty fair?

I seem to remember a speech that contained, I have nothing more to give this franchise.. I retire.

So should the Packers be pissed that he left them with only the "backup" plan to turn to.. you know, if the above logic scenario?

IMO, the rules changed for Brett in Green Bay when Ted took the reins.. Brett didn't have the same latitude he once commanded with the GM with things being ran by him. You know.. like most franchise/player relationships.

Brett got offended and the communication between the Packers and Brett began to fail. Leading to more hard feelings and misunderstandings until it couldn't be carried any further.

Brett retired at that point.. but then realized he wasn't ready for that non football life and the Packers moved on, you know, because the employee Brett quit.

To me.. it is more of a story of a failed marriage and divorce than you described above.

And as in most divorces.. their is blame to be owned on both parties for the dissolving marriage.

Brett's actions yet today remind me of a scorned ex.. you know the type, the ones unable to accept that they had blame in the failing as well.

really.....that's not even a fair comparison.

were you in court for sexting???

if not, why the comparison?

You brought in a personal tragedy, don't talk to me about being fair.

Brett and Deanna are married, true or false? TRUE.
I wasn't there for their vows, but I assume it went something like this ...
"I, (name), take you, (name), to be my (husband/wife), my constant friend, my faithful partner and my love from this day forward. In the presence of God, our family and friends, I offer you my solemn vow to be your faithful partner in sickness and in health, in good times and in bad, and in joy as well as in sorrow. "

I'm sure Brett threw in an amendment that stated if she were to get cancer, he can hit on other women.

In your book, that makes him human. In my book, that makes him an embarrassment for us men who stay true to our significant others.

i get where you are coming from,
the thing is, you're out there trying to win a game in terrible conditions, and at halftime you are told you are not doing well enough, your heart is not in it.
I'd be pissed off and not want to work for you anymore either.

and why should fans be mad at Brett for moving on?

I don't think Brett moving on to Minny should be held against him by Packer fans.

we did not want him anymore, we moved on. but to say, we do not want you, but you can not play for anyone else, is not right.

we moved on, we booed him, and then when Brett tells someone else to play well against us he is the villain?

Brett didn't spend 15 years on this project, that's the GM's job. He spent 15 years with the team, so your whole statement doesn't make sense. Also, if it took me 15 years to solidify one software, jokes on the boss.

I won't ignore your point, like you do with me, because I think that's rude and annoying.

If I retired and changed my mind, I'd understand that they moved on. That's LIFE. Any mature adult would understand that. I consider myself, sort of mature.

If they said "we respect that you want to code again, but we won't trade your rights, (which we hold because you retired before the contract we presented you and that you signed has yet to expire), we will trade said rights to a company of our choosing". Would I be pissed? Yes. Would I go on national TV complaining that the CEO didn't acquire the talented coders I knew? No.

I didn't even blame Brett for going to the Vikings, as I think the Vikings were the only viable team out there that was missing a QB to be a REAL Super Bowl contender. Did I like it? No. Did it make me throw up in my mouth seeing him in purple? Yep.

Brett's decisions as a NFL player do not bother me that much. Yeah the waffling is old, but he's also sought for comments far more than most and he speaks his mind. Many NFL players say that after the first couple months of a season you want to retire. So he said what was on his mind and it got blown up.

We didn't want him anymore? Wow, you can be naive. HE RETIRED! If you want to word like that, then he LEFT US!

Of course Packers fans don't like that our icon went to the enemy, no kidding. You really think every Packers fan was a Brett fan? Give me a break. I've found quite a few people who NOW root for the Packers because Brett IS not on the roster anymore.

Edit, according to Brett, the Packers suggested he stay retired to not diminish his legacy. Brett (rightfully so) said its my legacy, let me worry about it. Brett said he'd be fine with a QB competition for starting. Then later said something like why should I compete for my job? Then he and Mike spoke for many hours and Mike decided that Brett wasn't in the right mindset to be the Packers QB and Brett AGREED! It was then decided he'd be traded. Brett didn't like that, he wanted to be released so he could his team, the Vikings. The Packers, wisely said no because they are not complete idiots and knew that the Vikings needed a QB as their final missing piece, so they traded him to the Jets.

I don't know that Brett was told his heart wasn't in it, but it was OBVIOUS he was not himself even before that game started.

You speak a lot about what you don't know on this issue and I'm done with it because it's just pissing me off how you claim to be a Brett fan yet so naive to the short amount of facts that we know. Go ahead and be one of those ignorance souls that thinks the Packers wronged Brett and Brett's perfect. I won't sweat my ass on you with this issue anymore.

It's pretty pathetic that it's become "normal" damn near for a man to mess around on his lady. But if she were to mess around on him, suddenly she's a slut, right?

btw, nice try using politicians ... that REALLY helped your case.

OK let's say for argument's sake the Packers wronged Brett and exiled him to the Jets. He still retired, forced their hand to cut him and move on, and then had to go play for our rival, the Vikings. Is Brett righteous in this light, or is he vindictive and not able to turn the other cheek? He joined the Vikings with malice for the Packers, and no Favrebilly is ever going to convince me differently. The thing with Jenn Sterger is pure entertainment for me. In my opinion, as a man, Favre is scumbag, but he sure can wing a football.

i so wish this was in the back alley so i could tell dh exactly what i think of him. i'll do my best to clean it up...here goes:

you are a delusional jagoff who will find any miniscule tidbit to excuse a man you don't even know for making horrible judgements.
you're making assumptions about his wife & his sex life based on absolutely nothing.
nobody knows what goes on in another person's home - not even people who are close friends & relatives. yet somehow you have the window to look in their house? yeah ok.
you act like we're the 'sad' ones who come to this site on a daily basis & have found some true friendships.
i can say without hesitation that you are the truly sad one here.
how dare you discuss what a woman goes through when she has cancer. you disgust me.

Zero2Cool (2h) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (2h) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (2h) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (2h) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (2h) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (2h) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (2h) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (3h) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (3h) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
