When Brett signed a 2 year deal with the Vikings after coming out of retirement for the second straight year, I had no question he'd play both of those years and said as much. Something I also said too was he'd sign a one day contract with the Packers and retire a "Packer".

Bonita, his mother, has gone on record saying he should have stayed retired the first time. Will this play a role?

It's in my opinion Brett will NOT reach out to the Packers for a one day contract. And I don't think its his responsibility to do so. The Packers, Jeff Blumb maybe, should contact Brett about signing a one day contract. It might even be Ted who does the calling. Ted has always like Brett. Remember, it was Mike who said Brett wasn't in the right mindset to be the Packers QB.

Even though I've lost respect for him as a person, I can not forget the 16 years I huddled around my TV every weekend watching him lead my favorite team to victory after victory and sometimes heartbreaking defeat. Without bad, there wouldn't be good and Brett gave us a lot of both.

I'd like to see it happen. I just don't see it happening because Brett is awfully stubborn. I wonder if Brett lightened up on his angry stance towards Ted for not landing Randy Moss after Moss was a Viking?

Sign a one day contract with the Packers, and then go ride your tractor Brett.

I hope a one day contract to retire as a Green Bay Packer comes to fruition but I hope that's not the last chapter.
I hope the last chapter is Brett Favre being honored at Lambeau ala Reggie White (although NOT postmortem) and have number 4 retired to the "ring of honor" along with other Packers greats.

I don't expect that in the near future but I would like to see it in my lifetime.

I don't think there's much question about his number being retired. I mistakenly took that as a given. Ooops.

I don't think so, I recall Jerry Rice signing a one day contract with the Niners for $0, I might be wrong though...

As far as Brett goes, I hope he does finally hang it up and sign a one day deal.. I admit to hating him the past 3 years, and was ashamed when he beat us twice last year, and overjoyed and felt like we got our revenge this year. Looking at him now though, I just feel bad for the guy.. he gave our organization so much and now hes on the brink of ruining his future health and legacy.. such a shame.

Nice Story about Favre and this Kid:

Brett Favre Visits Sick Oconomowoc Boy
YouTube Video Shows Former Packer's Wisconsin Trip
POSTED: 10:59 am CST December 21, 2010
UPDATED: 11:47 am CST December 21, 2010

OCONOMOWOC, Wis. -- An Oconomowoc family has posted a video on YouTube showing a visit from the Minnesota Vikings quarterback.

On Friday, Brett Favre and his wife, Deanna, stopped in Wisconsin to see Anderson Butzine, 5, who was diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening tumor in 2006.

In the video, Favre kisses Butzine's foot and even gives his family gifts.

The former Green Bay Packer talked about the visit in his post-game press conference Monday night.

"Since the brain tumor, he had started writing his '4' backwards so during the game Deanna sent this towel down with a '4' backwards knowing I knew what that would be about," Favre said.

Over the last few years, family friends had contacted Favre to make Butzine's dream come true.

The young Favre fan has had several surgeries and the most recent has been difficult on the family.

Butzine's parents did not want to talk on camera, and Favre asked that no media be present during the visit.

I don't think a one-day contract would feel right at this point. It wouldn't for me, anyway, and I don't think it would for a lot of other fans. I don't see it happening. And they may have to wait a few years before any kind of ceremony in front of a crowd.

Recently the Chicago Black Hawks honored Chris Chelios, a great player for them who played his final years with the Red Wings, and the ceremony was drowned in boos from the fans. It would be embarrassing for both Favre and the Packers if that happened to him. Remember, he was SERIOUSLY booed the last time he left Lambeau Field, and that was when he had lost and was pretty banged up.

I think if Favre says the right things, he won't hear any boo's.

"Vikings SUCK!!!"

No one would boo him.

That's extreme, but ya get the idea.
