In retrospect, this streak should have ended the year of his thumb injury, but Sherman did not have the nads to bench him. I doubt there are many coaches who would.

There was also a wrist injury, I think, during the Ray Rhodes season, when he should've sat out at least a game or two. That injury dogged him all year, and he had one of the worst years of his career. That's why I'm not a big fan of streaks, including Cal Ripken's. There are bound to be times when a player is hurt or fatigued and would be better off sitting out a game. It is still an amazing accomplishment, though, in terms of sheer guts.
