The Vikings didn't give up when Jackson replaced Favre in the Bills game. They blew out the Bills. I think they will make a good effort against the Bears. If they like Leslie Frazier as much as most people seem to think they do, they will be motivated to play hard for him.

Yeah but how much motivation are they going to have at 5-8? I don't know, we'll see I guess but I'm expecting the Vikings to lay down to the Bears. 5-8, no playoff hopes, we'll see how much they want to rally around Frazier I guess.

In retrospect, this streak should have ended the year of his thumb injury, but Sherman did not have the nads to bench him. I doubt there are many coaches who would.

There was also a wrist injury, I think, during the Ray Rhodes season, when he should've sat out at least a game or two. That injury dogged him all year, and he had one of the worst years of his career. That's why I'm not a big fan of streaks, including Cal Ripken's. There are bound to be times when a player is hurt or fatigued and would be better off sitting out a game. It is still an amazing accomplishment, though, in terms of sheer guts.

I have always said how frustrated I was with Sherman for letting him play. If they wanted to keep the streak going they should have trotted him out for 1 series and then sat his rear down.

I just finished a book on "The Luckiest Man on the Face of the Earth", Lou Gehrig. He had a few near misses himself. When he was injured or sick he went out and played most of the game. many times it was sub par for his standards. A few times he put up huge numbers like Jordon or Favre when they were sick. One time he lead off the game as the SS and then was replaced in the bottom half of the inning. There were no asterisks by his name.

All in all I thought I would enjoy the day that THE STREAK was broken. I found no pleasure in it last night or this morning.

Probably because those games weren't consecutive. He didn't play in the playoffs every year. The regular season streak is consecutive and contiguous.

But playoff games are contiguous with the regular season. I think it's just that the league doesn't figure the postseason into any of its records. For almost all records, that makes sense, but this one is a little different. I think the 321 is the more important number in this case, because the record would be significantly tarnished if he had missed a playoff game somewhere in there.

All the "talking heads were wrong" most saying brett would start the game just to kep the streak going, was hoping he would be able to finish out the year, it will be interesting to se if he does play any the next 3 weeks.

I just have a feeling Bretts career is not over, somebody will come a calling next year when they are in dire need of a qb, just don't think brett will be able to resisit if it is the right situation.

Let the healing begin, younger fans will probably never understand what brett Favre meant to The Packers, The NFL will not be the same without Brett Favre.

I will never understand the hushed tones of reverential nostalgia and the starry eyes with which people speak of Brett Favre, but if it brings meaning to their lives, more power to them, I guess.

I will say that the end of the streak brought me no pleasure either. It's just so tattered and outworn I want it to go away. Watching professional football will be a much more enjoyable experience when the spastic reflex of every commentator's tongue is not to reach for the word "BrettFavre" every time they're in need of a moment's filler.

We'll hear more comments similar to 'oh boy did you see that Mike? Who does that remind you of? Yepper, the ole gunslinger! I bet Brett's sitting on his tractor lookin through a window saying 'golly gosh i used to do that'"

It won't end, give it up.

Maybe he can come back as Aaron's backup...lol...j/k.

The worst part is that Favre can still play, but his body is wearing down, not able to play through the injuries like he used to.

Doesn't that, by definition, mean that Favre can no longer play?

Otherwise then Justin Harrell can still play. And so can Terrence Murphy.
