Anybody else still concerned about these lulls? They started out ugly today, as usual. Nice to see the defense play well. I was surprised they hadn't gotten an INT in the last two games, but then Collins jumped one there at the end.
Nice to see the offense finally get it going, but man. When you let inferior teams hang around, you get teams like the Bears ahead of you in the division, that don't belong there.

As I said after the Bills game, if you let a bad team hang around in the first half, you had better blow them out in the third quarter, and that's pretty much what happened again.

I'm not concerned about the slow start, but it was annoying at the time. Maybe it was just a case of the Packers playing down to the level of their shitty uniforms with the turd-like helmets. It was not a good sign when our new millionaire DB, Tramon Williams, got burned deep for maybe the first time this season on the third play of the game.

The offense had a good first drive before Aaron Rodgers weirdly self-destructed in the red zone, overthrowing a wide open Donald Driver in the end zone, then committing an intentional grounding penalty on the next play. Maybe Rodgers had to get used to the wind. James Jones got open deep twice and Rodgers underthrew him one time and overthrew him the next time.

The defense gave up several big plays in the first half--very uncharacteristic of them. They seemed to forget that it is perhaps a good idea to cover Vernon Davis. But they shut down the running game, and Troy Smith was not going to beat us through the air, so I was never too worried.

Thankfully, the discrepancy in talent between the two teams was too big for the 49ers to overcome, and the Packers won it going away. That long pass that Aaron threw to Greg Jennings in the third quarter was spectacular. It must've traveled about 60 yards in the air, and it was a perfect strike.

Seemed to me they were expecting to have an easier time of it. When they woke up and realized they were playing a professional football team, things got a lot tighter.

Final score 34-16. Second half: 20-3.

No. I'm not concerned about the slow starts. The most important quarters are the final two. I'm all for conversation, but is it too much to ask for us to enjoy the ride?

I stayed out of the chat intentionally during the 1st half because I wasn't in the mood to hear people complain about us "passing too much." We left a lot of opportunities on the field, including a missed easy TD to Driver that was shortly followed by a missed 29 yard FG. Also when aiming for Gregorious deep, Aaron hit the defender on the helmet.

This game should have been a blowout in the first half. I knew we'd win by double digits, even with the slow start. Wasn't worried about this game at all.

On the big plus side, Starks turned out to be a decent RB. We should be good with our running game this year between Starks, Jackson, and Kuhn. So maybe we can stop the panicking?

That pass was intended for Jones actually, although it was hard to tell who was who in those shitty uniforms.

LOL Greg. Thanks for the correction. Yes, those uniforms sucked. I couldn't tell who was who.

There's nothing wrong with being annoyed at bad play -- or taking inordinate pleasure in a good play.
