Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn't do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another. -Vince Lombardi

The problem with those plays on the goal line is that we cannot just punch it in. Lombardi would call a sweep. Everyone in America would know what was coming, but no one could stop it. Not so with this team.

Interesting to hear Rodgers comment on why he checked into the goal line run - said it was the exact look that Miami gave them when they used it before, and he thought he could catch them off guard.

I was pretty appalled with going for it at the 1 the second play by calling Rodgers number again. However, someone pointed out on another site - and I think it has merit - that those are the situations you use your best RB to punch the ball in. Rodgers was our best back in that game, so McCarthy decided to try to punch it in with him. If that is the case, I think that speaks volumes about the lack of faith McCarthy has in our RBs. I can't blame him since B-Jack is hardly a special or gritty runner.

You're not going to have the chance to let routes develop at the 1 yard line; teams go exclusively press and WRs can only do so much when they have a very limited amount of space to try and get free in. So I'm not sure I disagree with the call - although I think it speaks volumes about how Ted has short-changed this team at RB after Grant. I, frankly, can't come up with a better call to punch the ball in from the 1 given our top RB was ineffective and the 2nd man behind him left the game with a concussion earlier.

Well, as i said in another thread, WHY DID THEY KICK IT DEEP AT THE END???
You SQIB kick it, to prevent a big return.
Stupid, if you ask me.

I've seen squib kicks blow up in teams' faces in that situation, giving the oponent a short field to set up a field goal drive. Usually a squib kick gives them the ball around the 35-40 yard line. With a conventional kickoff, the other team will usually start around the 28 yard line. Atlanta does not have a great kick returner, and they had done nothing on kick returns all day. McCarthy was just playing the percentages. I wouldn't have tried a squib kick unless there was much less time on the clock--say, time for only two or three more plays.

You squib if the other team needs a td not a fg

Our strong legged kicker should have been able to blast it right out of the endzone in a dome.

That was exactly my thought on the first Rodgers sneak, that it was exactly the same thing they did against Miami which they converted easily.

What I think is even more embarrassing about that series and other series we've had is that our offensive line never once gets any push when all we need is 1 yard. Yeah the running back performance is awful but just once could you maybe push the defense back half a yard? It's pathetic.

We have perhaps the best red-zone passing quarterback in the league. Why not give him a chance to throw a touchdown? Atlanta was clogging the middle of the line -- the corners of the end zone would have been wide open.

What hurts is seeing another close game go to the other team. We were good though, but Atlanta didn't really slip up and deserved the win.

Tough losses against great teams let you know where you need to elevate your play to.

The first sneak was an audible by Rodgers and the second one McCarthy said he tried to get a timeout so he could change the play and didn't get it. Little things like that and the 4th down drop we missed that should have been challenged really changed the outcome of the game.

The way this game went fell right into the hands of the Falcons. They got a couple of long drives, never used any hurry-up offense and it seemed like we started from our own 10 every damn time. We moved the ball almost every time we had it but had so far to go and it took so long we didn't get the number chances we really needed.

beast (23h) : I was rooting for the Bears to win and hurt their draft pick status
Zero2Cool (23h) : Forgot there was even a game last night haha
TheKanataThrilla (27-Dec) : That was terrible.
TheKanataThrilla (27-Dec) : Watching that game in its entirety yesterday is proof positive that I am a football addict.
beast (27-Dec) : And horrible time management multiple times... and not being able to score more than 3 points on a team with talent
beast (27-Dec) : Realizing the Bears didn't fix it from the previous week and do the same thing, getting the game to overtime
beast (27-Dec) : They probably are not tanking, but they've absolutely mismanagement some things, such as Vikings seeing the Packers blocked FG and realizing
Zero2Cool (27-Dec) : Crazy of Bears to have that mindset that is
Zero2Cool (27-Dec) : Hail Mary stop away from 5 - 2. Not sure how that flips to tanking. Crazy mindset if true
beast (27-Dec) : I've quietly questioned if Bears are tanking on purpose... they suddenly got a lot worse with some simple concepts like 101 clock management
wpr (27-Dec) : Watching bares fans melt down over how putrid their team is, so enjoyable. It's the gift that keeps on giving.
Mucky Tundra (27-Dec) : The Seattle Seahawks defeat the Chicago Bears 6-3. Jason Myers had 6 RBIs for Seattle while Cairo Santos had 3 RBI for Chicago
beast (27-Dec) : Not nessarily, he might of been injured either way. He's playing about 50% of the games the last 4 years
Zero2Cool (26-Dec) : If they'd been more patient with him, he'd be back already. Putting him out there vs Bears caused him to tweak it and here we are.
packerfanoutwest (26-Dec) : well this is his last season with the PAck, book it
beast (26-Dec) : Sounds like no Alexander (again), I'm wondering if his time with the Packers is done
Zero2Cool (26-Dec) : Could ban beast and I still don't think anyone catches him.
Mucky Tundra (26-Dec) : Houston getting dog walked by Baltimore
packerfanoutwest (25-Dec) : Feliz Navidad!
Zero2Cool (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas!
beast (25-Dec) : Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
beast (24-Dec) : Sounds like no serious injuries from the Saints game and Jacobs and Watson should play in the Vikings game
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : both games Watson missed, Packers won
Martha Careful (24-Dec) : I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas!
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Oh I know about Jacobs, I just couldn't pass up an opportunity to mimic Zero lol
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : Jacobs was just sat down, Watson re-injured that knee that kept him out 1 game earlier
buckeyepackfan (24-Dec) : I needed .14 that's. .14 points for the whole 4th quarter to win and go to the SB. Lol
Mucky Tundra (24-Dec) : Jacobs gonna be OK???
Zero2Cool (24-Dec) : Watson gonna be OK???
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : Inactives tonight for the Pack: Alexander- knee Bullard - ankle Williams - quad Walker -ankle Monk Heath
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : No Jaire, but hopefully the front 7 destroys the line of scrimmage & forces Rattler into a few passes to McKinney.
packerfanoutwest (24-Dec) : minny could be #1 seed and the Lions #5 seed
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : We'd have same Division and Conference records. Strength of schedule we edge them
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I just checked. What tie breaker?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes its possible but unlikely. If we do get the 5th, we face the NFCS winner
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : Ahh, ok.
bboystyle (23-Dec) : yes due to tie breaker
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : I mean, unlikely, yes, but mathematically, 5th is possible by what I'm reading.
Zero2Cool (23-Dec) : If Vikings lose out, Packers win out, Packers get 5th, right?
bboystyle (23-Dec) : Minny isnt going to lose out so 5th seed is out of the equation. We are playing for the 6th or 7th seed which makes no difference
Mucky Tundra (23-Dec) : beast, the ad revenue goes to the broadcast company but they gotta pay to air the game on their channel/network
beast (23-Dec) : If we win tonight the game is still relative in terms of 5th, 6th or 7th seed... win and it's 5th or 6th, lose and it's 6th or 7th
