I didn't really care if they won this game. I just wanted them to go in there and show that they are for real.
What hurts is not that the division lead is on the line. It's not that home field advantage could be on the line. It's not even that the playoffs could be on the line.
What hurts to me is the self destruction. They go in there and show that they could have had a solid win, but then piss it all away.
If we got solidly outplayed, that would be one thing, but that's really not the case here. Just disappointing to me.
Sick of us trying to bullshit our way around having to have a real run game too.
I don't blame the defense at all. They played tough, held the conference leaders to 20 points.

We self-destructed? When? How?

Exactly. We had one shitty ST play giving them a short field to work with. A few other unlucky breaks didn't go our way in the first half, and aside from that it was a "whoever has the ball last" type of game.

I'm not happy the team lost, but aside from the usual running game concerns, I thought the WRs played a great game, Rodgers was a stud, our defense was bend-but-don't-break...they played well!

As long as it doesn't hurt when I pee, this is the least pissed off I am after a loss this season. I didn't feel any self destruction at all.

IMO it was the 2 QB sneaks and the lack of kuhn running it in like he used to do or doing those short yardage catches like last year ...

and of course that poor ST at the end.

On that last special teams coverage the penalty probably ended up at least giving us a chance to stop them. Sad that the coverage was so bad it led to that penalty. Their returners catch the ball and immediately take a step forward, not so much with our return game, dancing with the stars auditions.

That's exactly how I feel. And +1 for referring to peeing thus catering to my sophomoric maturity.

and btw, that was one of the most vicious facemasks I've seen in a long time. Wilhelm deserved every one of those 15 yards!

I think you are being entirely too charitable here. Both teams had 8 possessions (including the essentially meaningless final possession for the Packers that started with 9 seconds on the clock). The average starting field position for the Falcons was the 30-yard line. The average starting field position for the Packers was the 15-yard line. That might not sound like much, but it represents a 120-yard advantage for the Falcons in total field position. That has a significant impact on the game.

To say that the Packers' special teams flat-out sucked this game would be putting it kindly.

Sam Shields was a mess as a returner, that's for sure. Then there was the horrible play by the kickoff cover team at the end. Other than that, I have to give the Falcons' punter credit for pinning us deep a couple of times. I wouldn't say the Packers' special teams flat-out sucked, but they were definitely outplayed.
