He will be a good fit elsewhere. Wherever he goes, I'm going to root for him. What a completely classy farewell statement, too. I aspire to that kind of dignity and character.

This is a sad day i liked KGB. Heck they better not let driver go or i won't have any packer jerseys left of current players. I'm sure it wont be long before hes on another team maybe in the division. Good Luck KGB
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Something occurred to me. I read where Justin is bringing his extended family to this football game. I read where he was really hoping to be activated for it, proximity etc. Now we got KGB released... I wonder what is going through Justin's head right about now. Many have said that there is a danger of him getting re-injured if coming back too soon. This could be terribly interesting tomorrow afternoon. I would not be a bit surprised to see some truly inspired play out of Justin. I wouldn't be surprised if he got hurt trying to do too much, too soon. I guess what I'm thinking is that there is a double-edged sword aspect to this whole turn of events. I'm sure hoping for the inspired football thing, without the injury thing.

My thinking on this is more along the lines of simple human nature. KGB is one of the most respected individuals in the entire league. Justin had to have looked up to him, how could he have not? We knew someone had to go, personally I thought it was going to be someone like Kenneth Pettway. Anytime someone gets released there is a personal story that gets overlooked. I don't think this release falls in the category of "well, it's a tough business." It's beyond that. KGB's production was obviously way down, but his knee(s) didn't get ruined playing slow pitch softball. Justin, Green Bay, and all of us lost a real inspiration in the how to go about your business in KGB... I'm quite sure Justin is fully aware of that, and I am very interested to see how that will translate into his play on the football field. Again, I'm not speaking of fairness, the business side, or anything but how this will impact him as a football player that is obviously aware of his being under a microscope with the draft position, injuries, etc.

I loved KGB, class act and he will be missed, but his production was not impressive at all this year. This was a little surprising to me considering the lack of depth there, but i think we all knew it would happen sooner or later.

Well, now that its done, where do they stand on the DL?

from packers.com:

LDE 74 Aaron Kampman 99 Jeremy Thompson* 93 Kenny Pettway
LDT 79 Ryan Pickett 90 Colin Cole
RDT 97 Johnny Jolly 91 Justin Harrell
RDE 96 Michael Montgomery 99 Jeremy Thompson* 57 Jason Hunter

So, kampman, picket, jolly monty/thompson on the first team, i sort of expect thompson to start with his good play the last couple games

and kampman, monty, jolly/cole, and thompson on passing downs?

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, but i seem to remember in TC talk of monty playing a lot on the inside.

I think it's probably because KGB is one of our highest paid players. If he didn't make so much money, he probably wouldn't have been a casualty.

Are you serious? You think this is solely about money?

KGB is a veteran, meaning the Packers have to pay him his remaining salary for the year, even if they cut him. This move saves the Packers no money, and the fact that we are loads under the salary cap means we didn't need to save the money anyways, seeing as cap surplus doesn't carry from year to year.

This move is simply to sure up our biggest weakness: Run D. KGB is a one trick pony, and lately he had been doing his one trick pretty poorly. Given that KGB doesn't play ST either, this move was the only move that would least impact the overall dynamics of the team. Pettaway and Hunter will now be relied on to fill KGB's role on 3rd Downs.

The interesting thing in all of this is that I thought KGB was coming off his best game of the season against the Colts. That's not really saying a whole lot considering how ineffective KGB has been this year, but I thought the improvement would've bought him some time to see if he could continue his upward play. I guess that wasn't going to be the case.

Actually AADP we will eat part of his contract this year and part next, so it was about money. I have a problem with a guy making KGB's coin and only being a pass rush specialist. KGB's contract demanded a three down player which he never was or could be. I don't fault KGB for his contract, but the people in charge that offered it. I wish him well, but I do not see this move as a bad one; rather, I've been wondering why it has taken so long.

Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : With LVN that is; need to see what happens in the next practice
Mucky Tundra (13-Aug) : beast, reading about what happened, it sounded like one of those "two guys collide and are moving slow afterwards" type of deals
beast (12-Aug) : I believe Musgrave has been injured every single season since at least a Sophomore in highschool
packerfanoutwest (12-Aug) : Matt LaFleur: “Highly unlikely” Jordan Love plays more this preseason
dfosterf (12-Aug) : Doubs, Savion Williams, LVN, Musgrave all banged up to one degree or another, missing one here I forget

dfosterf (10-Aug) : Just gotta figure out how.
dfosterf (10-Aug) : Could have been a worse start, so there is that.

TheKanataThrilla (9-Aug) : NFL Network is broadcasting the game tonight, but not in Canada. Not sure why as no local television is showing the game.
beast (8-Aug) : But the Return from IR designations had to be applied by the 53 man cutdown.
beast (8-Aug) : It's a new rule, so it's not clear, but my understanding was that they could be IR'd at any time
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
Zero2Cool (8-Aug) : Packers star Howton, first NFLPA prez, dies at 95 😔
