I wasn't contesting that it's a crime (though it's only a crime in a few states).

I wasn't contesting that it's a crime (though it's only a crime in a few states). I'm saying the term is technically inaccurate. The terms as used in the law are much more precise and reflective of the acts committed.

As for teens not being old enough for sexual activity, that's the fault of parents, pure and simple. With proper training, post-pubescent humans are more than capable of engaging in responsible sexual activity.

"Nonstopdrivel" wrote:

Whether it's the fault of the parents or society, generally speaking, children are not raised to be mature enough for decisions that could lead to STDs and/or pregnancy at age 14. And at the very least, based on the education system in this country, they are nowhere near ready to provide for a child at 14 years of age.

Remember, the police are allowed to lie (ponder the concept of a "sting operation" for a moment) and they have no constitutional obligation to protect you. "To protect and serve" bullshit notwithstanding, every citizen should regard the police as hostile and inimical to their interests at all times. The job of law enforcement is to get convictions, not to ensure the right thing is done. If you open your mouth to talk to the police, even in an attempt to defend yourself, you have fucked yourself and are owed no one's pity. The Fifth Amendment was implemented for a reason and every citizen should exercise it instinctively, no matter what the situation.

One of my best friends is serving hard time in the federal penitentiary because he opened his mouth with the best of intentions to explain that in fact he hadn't done what he was accused of. If he had just kept his mouth shut and not panicked under police pressure, he would have walked because there was no physical evidence against him whatsoever. But he lost his head, started stuttering and stammering, and signed his own death warrant. His life is completely over, even though he'll be getting out in the next few months.

I'm with NSD in this argument. If your teen isn't responsible about sex, you failed as a parent. They are biologically ready. It's YOUR responsibility to make them mentally and emotionally ready. I know my son has already done it but for some odd reason prefers videogames (a WTF moment from me).

The other thing, I hate cops. Most racist a-holes you'll ever encounter. Plus, they think everyone's a bad guy, especially if you got some melanin in you.

Don't talk to them. If you see them, avoid them if you can. If they stop you, talk as little as possible. Do NOT under any circumstance say anything that can incriminate you. Have a lawyer present. It's better to be broke than in jail.

What really scares me is today's average American would make a good slave. "Well, if you got nothing to hide." Look, if you got nothing to hide, you're a boring ass person and I'd rather not waste my precious (and very limited) time talking to your boring ass.

I got plenty to hide, baby. Plenty. And the last person I want to find out is a cop. I trust criminals more than cops, and I'm a good guy.

If you have nothing to hide, all I have to say is "Pics or GTFO."

I'm talking noods, baby.

Oh, and please share all your passwords with us and kindly leave your doors and windows unlocked.

Whatever happened to "every man's house is his castle" anyway?

"The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the crown. It may be frail -- its roof may shake -- the wind may blow through it -- the storm may enter -- the rain may enter -- but the King of England cannot enter." -- William Pitt, the first Earl of Chatham and Prime Minister of England, 1763

Excellent quote.

For the record, anyone who has a problem with the 4th Amendment SHOULD be a slave. This looks like a precursor to the 4th Amendment.

How did we get from the statutory rape to the 4th amendment?

BTW.. I agree and concur with the 4th amendment.
