I think if you look at it we could use almost all positions depth wise. Other than a few. Also remember Williams, Jenkins, Colledge, Spitz, Bishop, J. Jones, Jackson, Hall, Kuhn, Crosby and maybe Bigby (if he's season counts officially as an official season) if the players union gets a CBA like they would like which makes all FS with at least four official season UFA.
Looking at that listed alone we could be losing important depth at QB, TE, OLB and S.
For QB some fans have been talking about trading Flynn if the right price is offer and if that would happen next offseason would be the best time as it would be a contract year for him. And personally I like him... but I want a QB with a bit stronger arm... if they don't trade Flynn they should be alright.
At TE Finley and D.Lee contracts are up in the 2012 offseason and is D. Lee doing much? Anyways we got Quarless and Crabtree so maybe extra depth isn't needed but it wouldn't hurt ether.
People we're saying we needed an OLB before the season with only Matthews as good enough to start. We got depth there with B. Jones, Zombo, Walden, Briggs and Francois but could we use a better starter?
I think Safety is a nice mix with Collins, Burnett, Peprah, Bigby, Smith and Martin...
=================
One thing to note... seems Thompson 2nd pick often at a position where a an important players contract ran out that year and/or will run out next year.
2nd pick history
2005: Nick Collins / Sharper
2006: Daryn Colledge / Lost both starting OGs
2007: Brandon Jackson / Ahman Green
2008: Brian Brohm / Favre
2009: Clay Matthews / Kampman
2010: Mike Neal / Jenkins
2011: ?
If it's for someone this year then it's most likely Williams or the Colledge/Spitz combo... if it's for someone who'll be a FA after next year then that list is...
Flynn, Grant, Nelson, Finley, Tauscher, Sitton, Wells, Hawk, Harris both Lees Martin...
So based on that... next years 2nd pick should be a RB or OL ...
