Adjust expectations.. really?

As soon as you personally lower your personal expectations of yourself.. you have been defeated.

Why would one not apply that mentality forward to a team that many touted as one of the deepest teams in the NFL?

Either.. that was bullshit.. or we a fan base have bought into the we're screwed babbling of the talking heads.

Would I make a franchise changing decision of canning Ted or Mike if we don't meet those expectations with the current injury onslaught.. no.

But just the same. I will personally hold my expectations still at this point.. especially with a couple of troops maybe coming in to help from the pup.. and guys like Finley with still hope for the playoffs.. which if we can make it, may be a blessing in disguise to have a fresh body hitting in the stretch run.

There were a lot of starters on that list. Look at the Houston Texans for instance. They were looking like a Playoff team earlier in the season and the injury bug hit them hard.

Any given year, about a 1/3rd of NFL teams can use the injury bug as an excuse. How many coaches jobs have been saved by using the injury bug as an excuse? If I remember correctly, half of Bart Starr's career used the injury bug as an excuse (yet another reason I hate being my age - I remember him as a coach and not a player).

A very BIG blessing in disguise. Finley in the playoffs, fresh..against banged up linebackers and defensive backs....just got all giddy thinking about it.

PUP squad will make a difference when they return (at least Bigby and Harris). I am ready to see what Starks can do!

Dakota - You don't want to remember him as a Coach. Seriously, you don't.

People tell me he was one of the greatest players ever and arguably, he's the best Packers QB ever (and I've even seen arguments where he's the best QB ever, period). For me, I just remember him coaching losing teams and being made fun of for being a Packers fan because of it.

Pack93z - I gave you a +1. Well said, and I like yours and Finley's attitude.

EVERYONE has setbacks in life. Just like football. Things go wrong. You can make excuses or you can adjust. I choose to adjust.

As far as I'm concerned, we have a holy Packers trinity of Aaron, Clay, and Charles. They're the only 3 players we absolutely can't afford to lose.

Listen to you guys. These aren't the Packers fans I used to know. Wheres the spirit? Wheres the guts?

This could be one of the best seasons ever, but you're going to let it be the worst. "OOOH, we can't win. We have too many injuries. We will be lucky to make the playoffs. Woe is me! I'm scared!"

Well just KISS MY ASS from now on! Not me. I'm not afraid.

I still think this is going to be a good year. Favre? He's a dead man. Dolphins? Dead. Vikings? Dead.

LETS GO!!!!!!

Good morning ham & eggers,

Five frantic weeks into the season and we are on a fast dangerous rollercoaster with possibilities to either derail or give us the thrill of a lifetime.

At this very moment in time, considering all things from form, playcalling, injuries to the top office (trades etc.) - what would you consider as a successful season?

For me, it would be to make the playoffs. I could stomach another one and done because of what has transpired thus far. Before the season started, I had a wild guess at 10-6 and will stick by it, as I was probably giving flow to worst case scenarios.

I am not a negative nancy by any means, but my state-the-obvious quote of "No team has two players of equal skill in every position" holds true. Fact is, injuries to key players can never really be compensated for unless we have sleepers waiting in the wings.

In terms of individuals, I would like to see Greg Jennings play like we are accustomed to, perhaps the loss of Finley will afford that opportunity. I would also like to see Aaron Rodgers suck up everything and come out like a man possessed this week forward.

Come January 2nd 2011, 3:30pm, if the Packers are in the playoffs? I would consider it a good season.

What about you guys?

Satisfaction each and every year is only defined by a victory in the Superbowl. I know that's an unrealistic expectation, but that's the bottom line. As a Packer fan, I'm not satisfied with a playoff appearence, or even a division championship. I want to win the big dance. Nothing else matters.

This is why I've been a non-fan of MM and TT. I don't think they have what it takes to get us there.

I would conclude that his approach works if we even make the playoffs with this many injuries to starters.

Where would the Bears be right now if they were facing the loss of Forte, Urlacher, and Olsen for the season, with Cutler concussed, and short term injuries to Briggs, Harris, Adams, etc, plus Manning, Bowman, and Wolfe on the PUP list? Probably worse off than we are.

Well pre-5-6 starters going out I would of said a very strong play off run. Now I would like us just to get to the playoffs

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : two 1sts in 2022 and two 2nd's in 2023 and 2024
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers had fortunate last three drafts.
dfosterf (15-Apr) : I may have to move
dfosterf (15-Apr) : My wife just told the ancient Japanese sushi dude not enough rice under his fish
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I think a dozen is what I need
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Go fund me for this purpose just might work. A dozen nurses show up at 1265 to provide mental health assistance.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Maybe send a crew of Angels to the Packers draft room on draft day.
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : I am the Angel that gets visited.
dfosterf (14-Apr) : Visiting Angels has a pretty good reputation
Zero2Cool (14-Apr) : what
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : WINNING IT, not someone else losing it. The best victory though was re-uniting with his wife
Martha Careful (14-Apr) : The manner in which he won it was just amazing and wonderful. First blowing the lead then getting back, then blowing it. But ultimately
Zero2Cool (12-Apr) : I'm guessing since the thumb was broken, he wasn't feeling it.
dfosterf (10-Apr) : Looking for guidance. Not feeling the thumb.
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : If they knew about it or not
Mucky Tundra (10-Apr) : I don't recall that he did which is why I asked.
Zero2Cool (10-Apr) : Guessing they probably knew. Did he have cast or something on?
