At the current pace, I will be happy if they end the season with less than 53 on IR.

I still think the team can score with just about anybody with the talent remaining. And as long as Matthews is able to play the vast majority of the reamining games, I think the team can make the playoffs and win the division.

But as of now, the team has taken about as much in the line of injuries as I think any depth could handle.
The world needs ditch diggers too Danny!!!

I think we weather this storm, finish 11-5, win the division, and lose in the NFC championship game because McCarthey went conservative.

Let's compare Barnett and Bishop - Bishop is definitely better thumping at the line of scrimmage, but what can't be overlooked is Barnett's superior range. It's Capers job to adjust the defense.

We still have a lot of talent, but I would encouraga a shakeup on the offensive line. Bench Clifton, let Bulaga play LT and Lang at right and run the fuckin ball. Tauscher and Clifton can sit there on the bench as backups if the young guys can't handle the job. I think they can.

"dfosterf" wrote:

I'm gonna I applaud you! ya for that, but I personally want Colledge out of there also.
That brings me to the question of --- Do I want Tausch in there at RT and Lang at LG????

I think I might. I'm just not sure if Tausch is as done as I think he is.

"DakotaT" wrote:

No Gunny, Tauscher and Clifton have been killing the running game for years. They are deteriorating excellent pass blockers. Lets call a spade a spade. For the Nostalgia boys around here - yes they are great Packer warriors, but they are old and aren't getting it done.

As for Colledge, I don't care for him either but I don't think Newhouse is ready, but will be next year. Maybe insert Spitz, but he is a backup player in my opinion.

It's week 6,Packers starting line-up has lost quite a few of their #1 guys. Some for 1-6 weeks, others for the season.

Packers are going to have to gut it out, figure out a way to stay at or above :500. Hopefully there is help coming from the PUP list guys.

All teams have injuries throughout the season, hopefully The packers have already incurred thier fair share, when guys start getting healthy, the team will naturallly get better.

You want Cliche's...1. "You can't win a championship in Sept. and Oct., but you sure can lose them."
2. "It's not how you start the season, it's how you finish it"

Every week, I see every game, sometimes every play being over-analyzed. I agree with Zombie, some on this forum have either forgotten, or never have learned how to sit back and enjoy Packer Football.

Wins are great(no matter how ugly), losses hurt, but can't be dwelled upon. A team needs to keep moving foward and learn from their mistakes.

For the last few years, especially this year, it was real easy to get caught up in all the pre-season "hype".

Reality has set in, at this point in the season The Packers are not a dominant team, that doesn't mean by the time the "play-off run" portion of the season is here, that they won't be.

Every season has it's ups and downs, the measure of a successful season comes after 17 weeks, then hopefully 3 more weeks.

It's only week 6, try to enjoy the next 11 weeks, win or lose, we as fans cannot change the outcome of games and the decisions of GM's and HC's.

I agree. I don't mind the "Superbowl or Bust!" fans - everyone's got a right to their opinion, and wanting your favorite team in the big game is natural. But to the fans who constantly spout the "No excuse! Get it done!" mantra, I would ask: Could YOU get it done? Do YOU have a viable* plan to account for losing key starters in essentially every position on the field and ensure a Superbowl victory?

Apples and oranges. I don't play football for a living. I run computers that cost more than your house.

Guess what? In my world, layoffs happen. I still have to pay the bills.

But my life is boring. Football is exciting. Injuries happen and they happen to everyone.

I got a 3 player list of if these guys get injured, only then can we make excuses - Aaron, Clay, Charles. (just knocked on wood). Only if one of them gets injured can we make the excuse.

Vince - SB victory is a successful season. A Playoff win is a step in the right direction.

At this very moment in time, considering all things from form, playcalling, injuries to the top office (trades etc.) - what would you consider as a successful season?

I'll admit, all the injuries happening too close to each other to the Packers starters had me in a little frenzy. I am one that listened to the hype from both the media AND the players (ironically Barnett and Finley, both with major injuries).

At this very moment however, I think I have calmed down and think the Packers can still hit the 11-5 or 10-6 mark.

Front office- I have been in disagreement with the way they worked recently. I like Brandon Jackson but I think at most, he is a role player in the NFL...not a starter. What's done is done though. (This was my 1st dislike of Ted Thompson ever but I am over it).

Playcalling has me on the edge of my seat sometimes. I'm not the kind of guy to care about HOW MUCH we win by but McCarthy and Capers have gotten the best of me this season. I can't stress how frustrating it is to let teams get back into the game every single week. The Packers are up every single game and just blow the lead. THIS is the fault of the play calling. It is very clear watching the game.

The defensive scheme kills me...I literally stop breathing every time the opposing team is on offense because we allow so many little dump off passes that it tires our defense and sometimes turns into a mass amount of yards. I like the physicality of our defense, but I can't deal with the coverage.

The offensive line (tackles mainly) have been in shambles. They are old and semi-done. Bulaga proved he could play last week. Yes, he made mistakes but a lot of times he was blocking a great player in Orakapo. I don't know what Lang's situation but with those two, I think they should be playing. Still on the fence about Colledge.

Successful season- still have high hopes and I think with some of the leadership on the team and the "openess" of the NFC right now, the Packers can still run deep into the playoffs.

You can have ten backups lost and it won't hurt as much as two key starters.

Quality, not quantity matters most with injuries. Don't be fooled by a laundry list of players injured on a team. It's the NFL, everyone has a ding or two by now.

When you lost players that you plan your game around, that hurts and forces you to adapt. The coaches who can adapt are the coaches who win.

I don't think we have those kind of coaches.
