Did Chery drop one tonight? Bill Micheals was bitching about him on the postgame show. I thought the fielded punts quite well.

Patrick Williams looked to be as good of a receiver as any of the other #5 contenders but has the size advantage so I wouldn't be surprised to see him make it.

To be honest though I am not really impressed with any of the candidates and wouldn't mind seeing that roster spot go to another player at a deeper position.

No on Chery and yes to only 4 receivers.

Wouldn't mind that if they keep the extra TEs.

He dropped the opening kickoff, picked it up and then fumbled it away when he got tackled. On one of the punt returns the ball came loose as he went down, but it was not ruled a fumble. The Chiefs challenged the ruling and lost.

He did fine on the fair catches. Basically he looked like a poor man's Antonio Chatman.

I'm not sure they'll keep a 5th WR as they got 5 TEs worth keeping IMO (if they don't get a pretty good trade offer for one of them other than Finley and Quarless.

If they do go 5th WR I have to give it to Swain or Williams. I think Swain is better overall but he's starting to get banged up too often....

The other WRs just flat out dropped too many... and people complain about Nelson fumbling the ball (after coming back too soon after an injury/banged up last year) before the injury/bang up Nelson handled the ball a lot better.

Chery is alright returner... but alright doesn't make the 53 man roster list... buh bye

Thanks, I didn't know he had dropped that one. I missed the beginning of the game due to the F'd up situation with the streams and all that. I'm much more lukewarm on Chery knowing that. Maybe PS his ass I guess.

Chery does not make the team. PS maybe. Since he has shown the potential to fumble from time to time, I would hate to have the gunners on the other team get all excited and tell each other that they want to get down field and try to pop Chery.

Chery has a challenge getting the ball into his hands.

This will be a Turn Over Concern for the Packers. I think he will be let go. I think The Packers have a Turn Over concern in choosing players.

Take a look at Jon Ryan. This punter (Now in Seattle) was let go because the Packers thought he may give up two many blocked punts based on his delivery and his number of steps to the punt.

Ryan is now a pro bowl punter with the Seahawks. The Seahawks were not concerned with what the Packers were concerned with, and it worked out for them and Jon.

Every team has their concern, their philosophy, and their player check list. This will not always work. Every team will lose great players, and Chery like Jone may be one of them.

But who really gives a hill of beans about the one loss, compared to the overall success,

Ryan was let go because he shanked too many punts and kicked too many touch backs. Also because the ST remember the glory days of Frost where he had good leg strength and touch on his punts and not what the current film showed of Frost.

Also Ryan asked permission to go see a punting expert, who some have claimed is the top punting expert out there (other say top 3... I have no clue but he sounds good). The ST coach (or someone in the Packers) said no to letting him go train a week with the expert. He was then cut at the end of training camp.

Guess what? ... after being cut he goes to see the punting expert... guess what... he rarely shanks the ball any more... how bout them apples?

I think what happen was the ST coach got upset or hurt that Ryan thought there might be someone better out there to teach him or he didn't want someone else messing with his project or both.

I miss Ryan as the punter... he had red hair, held well for Crosby and even once in a while ran the ball VERY well and juked/run over some guys out while doing it ...

O well time to move on... well can we? The old ST teams coach little helper is now running the ST show and seemingly not don't much better other than finding two decent punters.
