For what he's been paid, he should be a GREAT player. Not just "fair".
But i guess that's the way it goes. Some guys you hit, some you miss.

I'm sure you're not stupid, but you are acting like you are. Your incorrect statement that I took issue with, and that you had your panties in enough of a bunch to dig up and quote state law about, had nothing to do with law or vacation time in any way. And then you say that I'm the one who has a problem with criticism, because I pointed out that you're wrong? :birdman:

What were you wrong about? Jesus, 93- it was a one sentence statement. It was wrong. Nothing too complicated here.

BTW.. us common people, whom go through the same thing don't get excuses after their child is born not to perform at work.

Common people DO get a leeway if they are a little off three days after their wife has an emergency c-section. It's pretty standard issue human compassion, which you don't feel Harrell deserves. I don't think it reflects well on you as a person. Wade seems to agree with me, and I'd be surprised if most don't.

btw, I have no problem admitting when I am wrong.

OK, then admit it. Or show me an example of someone, ANYONE, who lost his job for showing up for work but not being at the top of his game three days after his wife had an emergency c-section. Bet you can't, because not many bosses are that huge of assholes. If you can't, then just admit you're wrong, since you claim you have no problem doing it.

Okay then.. throw out some other colorful adjective for me.. two threads in a row. Where have I insulted you?

My colorful adjective being the line "I'm sure you're not stupid, but you're acting like you are?" Wow, what a big meanie I am. I do think you are acting stupid. Sorry.

So it is clear.. I am happy he had a good day in camp.. but to announce that he has earned his way onto the squad based on a single practice or base his worth is a stretch in my opinion.

Who announced that? The voices in your head? I know I didn't. Forgive me if I come across as rude, but it's frustrating arguing with people who make shit up and then pretend you said it.

If he is great.. fair or whatever.. his talent will dictate that.. the parts that concern me the most with all players..

1) Do they want to play.. do they have that desire to be the best?

2) Do they do the things to have themselves in the best shape / position to succeed?

3) Will they push themselves to win.. sometimes at all costs.

And the rubber meets the road concern.. can he help this team more than a talented football player that will have to be let go in place of him.

Fact is, we are a deep football team that will have to cut some talented football players that could help this club.. and can Harrell be a more reasoned choice and provide more value than the other players on the bubble with him?

Sorry... looked it up I thought it was Wednesday AM.. not PM.. so I counted it as a day.

I was wrong..

And apparently, he should be granted a free pass for the weekend game... I am wrong here as well, even though that can't be tangibly proved, as it is opinion. But you need the reassurance.. so have it.. lol.

And for the making shit up.. well that premise is built on the its is only practice and it doesn't matter from the other thread.. it only matters on gameday.. and to be clear that was the sarcastic part.

The previous thread, the reporters are biased, he has reasons to not be in shape and it is only camp.. lol.. but this thread he is justified because of practice. Inconsistent.. and I was making light of it. ;)

Because it isn't what I believe in or teach my kids.. it matters.. the truly great players know that preparation, conditioning and study are keys to being great..

Camp practices, drills, scrimmages, preseason games matter to those with their jobs on the line.. and in my opinion.. Harrell fits that category.

Oh to conclude.. speaking of putting words in ones mouth.. where did I say he should be fired because he needed a couple days off for the birth? I didn't... lol. 😉

Was it the player that asked for the time off or did the coach give the player the time off as a courtesy?

I hear about players getting out of practice often for child birth's.

I wonder if anyone gripping about missing practice for the birth considers that these men spend a lot of time on the road during the season. Not to mention not everyone of them has a permanent home in the Green Bay, WI area.

Who is gripping about missed practices?

My point, is a few days later, it should not be used as an excuse to under perform.

Heck even Justin agrees. lol.

Not once did I say that he shouldn't have missed time.. more so, once he is back, it shouldn't be offered up as an excuse. That is all.

Hell if I know. I lost interest when I see people comparing pro athletes to their everyday jobs. I think it's a little absurd. It's "fun" at times, but shit, then its depressing when you get down to the salary comparison.

Who's saying his poor play is acceptable because he had a kid or missed a few practices? Again, I lost interest at the job stuff and haven't paid much attention.

I suppose I just don't see how anyone can defend his play last week, even when he admits it was awful and said missing practice was no excuse.

Its a Ted Thompson defense thing.

They want Harrell to make the team, not because its the best thing for the Packers, but because it would be the best thing for TT's reputaion.

I really don't care one way or the other. I want the best 53. If Justin Harrell is one of the best 53, then I want him on the team.
