Oh....and it amazes me that the same liberals that want to take away MY rights are the same ones that JUMP to protect these people.
(I don't mean anyone on this site.)
Libearlism and political correctness........both are worthless. They both do more damage then help.

Good job summarizing all of the ignorant fears that the neoconservatives are feeding.

So....the fact that Muslims often build their mosques around places they "conquered" has NOTHING to do with them wanting to build one at ground zero. O....k.
You believe that???
I'll agree to let them build them where ever the hell they want when they let CHRISTIANS and JEWS build their churches and synagoges in th eir COUNTRIES. You know....without killing them for NOT being Muslim.......or killing Muslims that convert to Christianity.
It amazes me that they come to America, "USE" our laws to protect their "rights"......but in their own lands, they kill anyone that doesn't agree with them.
And people here want to feel sorry for THEM?
How about they build their damn building somewhere else? if they had ANY concern for the people that died at the hands of the radical Muslims that did that horrible act, they never would have tried to put it there in the first place.

But that's just it. They WANT to push it as far as the "dumb Americans" will LET them.
If it was one of MY loved ones that died in the cowardly attack, i'd be out there protesting every day.
But that's just me i guess.

But it's not "they".

Their religion does not make their personality or decide their actions, very much like most Christians live different lifes.

Jeffrey Dahmer was a Christian. I bet Iran is keeping Christianity down because we're all a bunch of serial killers. Maybe the fact that we're all child rapists factors in, as well, as our preachers are showing us.

I like how you're saying that we should keep everyone with a different religion down, because America should only be open to the Christians and (maybe) athiests, but a post later, talk about taking your freedom and rights away.

Building a mosque at ground zero is dumb. Why do I say that? Its common sense. That's all.

It is.

You stir up a lot of crap for absolutely nothing. Just let them build it somewhere else. This won't do anything but keep keep a rift between Islam and western civilization.

Well for one, it's not at Ground Zero. It's a few blocks away, next to fine respectful establishments like adult video stores.

I guess Christian churches shouldn't be allowed to be built in Columbine, Colorado then. Why allow christians to build places where they can worship their gods? They're all a bunch of terrorists just like Harris & Klebold showed us. I think it's funny how a random few are enough to judge every people of that particular religion.

Seriously though, it shouldn't go like this. The Muslims shouldn't want to build a mosque near Ground Zero because it would cause a shit soup with people still holding grudge against an entire religion for that. I wouldn't forbid them building it either. At least 99% of the people who go there have nothing to do with terrorism anyway.

How the hell can you judge EVERYONE of the religion over a few random guys?
This is a placeholder

1. I don't much care what happens in NYC. NYC is as much a different world to me as Syria. And about as important. When I think "America", I think probably 1000 things and 1000 places before NYC comes to mind.
2. Putting a mosque, or anything else, at Ground Zero, is in large part going to be a political statement. Maybe a political statement with good motives, and maybe a political statement with bad motives, but a political statement nonetheless.
3. Those freedoms we're always yammering on about are political freedoms. And they're not just freedoms for political statements with good motives. (If they were, we'd be right in muzzling at least 50 percent of Congressional speech and probably 75% of the media.)
4. And they certainly aren't political freedoms that should be constrained because the majority thinks the motives are bad ones. The Bill of Rights doesn't say "except when the majority says otherwise".

In my mind, the Islamic worldview is dangerous for a couple reasons. I believe it dangerous for its adherents -- because, as a Christian, I believe their beliefs, if unchanged, mean a route other than salvation. I believe it dangerous for the rest of us because it is too easily used for bad, bad stuff.

And neither of those beliefs of mine is relevant here. You don't restrict individuals' practice of religion, or how they decide to associate, or how they speak, just because that religion or association or speech may be dangerous. If you do, that First Amendment means nothing.

Foster's probably going to bash me for being an idealistic philosopher again, I expect. And others probably will decry my blind faith. And he and they'd be right in labeling me as such.

But what people forget is that the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are all about idealistic philosophy and stances of faith.

Maybe the US of A can't last if it grants the same freedoms to holders of the Islamic worldview as it does to the rest of us.

But, it seems to me, if it fails to take the chance, it's as good as dead already. Because the principles on which it was founded have already been cast aside.

This I believe.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Secondly, it's not a mosque. It's a community center with a place for prayer built into it. It would have a damn basketball court and swimming pool, iirc.
