Dhazer reminds me of the guys some of use to argue with about keeping Wahle and Rivera. They always would say it could have been done, but none of them could ever come up with the contract numbers to fit under the cap.

The types of free agents we can attract are the types we have gotten like Pickett and Chiller. The only reason Woodson is here is because we were the only ones with money willing to let him play corner. That is why having a GM like Thompson is the only way we can be a competitive team year in and year out. We need to draft, and draft well.

A FA addition here and there would be good, but Ted Thompson doesn't go after big names, we know that much now. I think we have a great team, that's capable of getting to the Super Bowl. Even if we don't this year, it's still a young and versatile team.

Merriman would have been nice, maybe even making a move on the cb in oakland ( not even going to attempt to spell his name) Brian Dawkins would have been nice last year to name a few guys that were and actually i believe still are.

The first two aren't FAs, but I get your drift.

I would've liked an OLB, myself. Not even a huge named guy, Travis LaBoy would've been enough for me.

Joey Porter was someone I liked, but he got way too big a contract.

Why you predict that we're losing against the 49ers is beyond me.

Dhazer's prognostications are of course ridiculous, as always, but I do tend to agree with him that Ted is too rigid with regards to free agency.

We could get better in many places with a little more aggression in free agency.

To do it Ted's way, we have to be damn near perfect in the draft, plus get lucky, plus hang on to what we have, plus see the expected development from all the "potential"...

I ridicule David quite a bit, but that doesn't make him completely wrong.

What we should have gone out and bought, or traded for was a legitimate NFL guard, and a veteran safety. I don't even know if Uncle Ted would think of giving up a future draft choice.

And yes Dhazer is right sometimes.

I'm not saying dhazer is wrong. But we have to be realistic here when we say things. Right? Hell, if we're gonna just be outlandish with out comments without supportive reasoning and understanding, why not say Ted's at fault for the Packers not drafting Barry Sanders? Sounds dumb right, why, because he had no control over that. Get the picture?

Merriman I don't believe was available and I just read he's wanting the Chargers to ensure he won't be traded. Not sure how we can fault Ted on that one.

Nnamdi Asomugha wasn't leaving the Raiders, there wasn't any chance of that. But yes I would have peed my pants if we somehow traded for him.

Brian Dawkins signed a five year contract for 17 million with the Bronco's. Kind of pricey for a guy his age, although I'd have been okay with that contract (sort of) as a Packer, if it was for 2 years 6 million or a tad more.

Jerry Porter was too pricey for his talent.

I'm not seeing any names that would have contributed considerably enough to help us that we had an option of exploring and landing.

Also, Porter is a one-down player. I rather have Brad Jones and I'm not that high on Jones either.

Merrimen was available and I probably would've dangled a second-round pick for him. Risky? Yeah, but I think the reward would've been great. Of course, then you have to make a move on a DE as well since that pick was used on Mike Neal and GB needs depth.

My choice? Vonnie Holiday, who I was clamoring for last year.

But I understand the opposite approach and for the record, Green Bay is just as talented as New Orleans. Sometimes talent doesn't win the Super Bowl. You need a lot of good things to fall in place.

Shawne has bad knees, a foot injury and off field problems.

don't see how this guy fits Ted Thompson type of player.

Morgan Burnett has all the skills to be a great player, and Ted Thompson just does not go for overpriced veterans like dawkins. Ted Thompson is gonna build the team with his draft picks, and i am starting to really like some of his picks.

James Starks is a guy with some size and speed, if he can get healthy, I think he may surprise some ppl and make an impact this year.

Also Sam Shields is showing some skills in TC @ CB

The neat thing is that if you find yourself in a grumpy mood, you can always go back and read one of Dave's pearls of wisdom regarding Aaron.

They are always good for a chuckle, at a minimum.
