Ken Hamlin is no better than Bigby. Maybe 3 years ago, but not now.

The Cowboys cut Flozell Adams at tackle...we could use him. His size is great...somewhat on the downsize of his career. But, he could start right away...add depth to the roster...and who knows, a fresh start away from Dallas maybe all he needs to be a good serviceable procuctive player...

Dude, your jumbling 3 different arguments into one. Honestly, my 8 year old cousin could articulate himself better then you.

He could start right away: Um, no. Flozell is a LT. We already have one, who we paid big bucks to. So we don't have a need yet to have a LT who can start right away. Add to that, we run a Zone Blocking Scheme. In case you didn't know, it's a scheme where agility and mobility are valued because you have to have linemen cutting defenders. To put it simply: big guy + falling down a lot = no good.

He needs a fresh start to become a serviceable player: Um, no. He may indeed have some value, but his time in Dallas came to an end because his age and production meant he was no longer worth the money being shelled out to him. He may still have value and offer someone some good snaps here and there.... but it's not because he left Dallas and got a change of scenery.

He could add depth to the roster: This he certainly could. Problem is we as a team need a young LT to groom for the future. If we don't get that in the draft. Flozell may very well be an alternative.

Best thing for Packers to do is let things run their course. If we still don't have any real depth at LT after the draft, then look to Adams if he is still available.

First thing...what is this ...your wrong stuff...opinions are never wrong...you can disagree with them. Second, lets wait...like...we do all the time...and we miss free agents like peppers, so if we wait...he will be gone to somewhere else...and after the draft seems aliittle to long to wait...AND thirdly, you can never have ENOUGH Tackles...with the history of injuries that we have had over the years...lets keep off the personal attacks...we all like the packers and want to see them do well.

This discussion has been started here..

While I like the thought of having proven depth.. it really would come down to how much "The hotel" wants... we already have 7 Million tied up in short term salary at Left Tackle.. and I would guess Adams wants around the same..

So we have Clifton, Lang and probably a rookie or two to help provide the depth at a fraction of the cost.

And with the per game provision in Clifton's contract.. I expect him to miss a game or so... it is the type of challenge that will push Chad.

I don't buy into the zone scheme athlete idea. A good player is a good player. And we supposedly run a hybrid zone blocking scheme. I don't think any of our players we have fit that idea except Wells and Colledge. And they seem to want to replace them anyway.
I think Adams is to old and expensive at this point, especially after resigning our two OT's. Seems like the Cowboys have been down on him for about 2 years. I think if he came at a better price it would be a good idea.
I know this is the wrong place for this and may be posted already (I just read the Packers discussion and draft talk part in here) but how about Bulger as a back up QB? He just got cut from the Ram's.

That's what I've done. You posted your opinion. I countered with my take on your opinions. That's not to say your opinions are wrong, but rather I disagree with them. To each his own, dude. But the fun in a forum like this is engaging with each others opinions.

Second, lets wait...like...we do all the time...and we miss free agents like peppers, so if we wait...he will be gone to somewhere else...and after the draft seems aliittle to long to wait...

Um, I don't want to take my reply in a different direction but I'll just say that if you are into going after free agents without any consideration of them fitting our scheme (like Peppers) then that's ... well it's not smart. Where did you think we should have played Peppers? 3-4 OLB where he could get exposed covering TEs and WRs? Or perhaps you'd want to play him at DE? Our 3-4 DEs don't primarily rush the passer - their responsibilities are to hold the line of scrimmage to allow other players behind them to make plays. Even referencing Peppers ... I mean seriously, you could have referenced any other player on the market and he'd be a better fit for our system.

Now on to your point: your assumption is that Adams is a hot free agent. Up to this point, that isn't the case based on the teams he has visited. In addition, I'd rather our front office focus almost all their energies on the draft and preparing for it. That means I'd rather they bring in young prospects and look at them then bring in veterans and devote time to them.

AND thirdly, you can never have ENOUGH Tackles...with the history of injuries that we have had over the years

I agree having quality tackle depth can never be underestimated. My problem is that we are about as surely going to pick up a tackle early in the draft, one that will have potential to play LT. However, we may lfind ourselves with a Oher like prospect falling to us, and then later on have another higher projected tackle fall to us in a later round.

My point is that I'd much rather secure the long term depth at tackle than have a stop-gap. I think Flozell Adams would be just that: a stop-gap. So I'd prefer to wait to see how our OT situation is after the draft. If we come out with two solid OT prospects, I'd rather roll the dice with them then bring in a short-term solution.
