I have no idea what you are talking about.

I think you can sleep safely this evening, I am unaware of any Battalion Commander planning on deploying one of his companies in retaliation and/or repudiation of posse comitatus laws.

There are individuals that will take it upon themselves to "right" this "wrong".

I was trying to explain how some of these people think, especially in light of their own individual sense of "duty" or "pride", coupled with what you might call "brainwashing".

Many of them are completely, totally disinterested in your lofty perceptions of what is correct and incorrect.

It could be some crazy homeless guy that gets a load on and decides he's gonna "take 'em all out".

In the back of his mind might be, "Once a Marine, always a Marine." or somesuch.

I have to laugh. That last post reminded me of when I brought one of my jarhead friends home.

My best friend (from my previous life) stopped by. He got into a pissing contest with my jarhead friend.

I caught my civilian friend in the bathroom, and warned him not to piss off my jarhead friend... I told him, "He ain't right, man, I'm warning you."

He told me "I refuse to live in fear of pissing off your asshole buddy, yada yada yada"

Five minutes later I'm in the kitchen getting us all a beer, and I hear a "smack, boom."

The argument had got to the point where my jarhead buddy decided he would switch persuasive methodologies and "knocked the fucker out."

He threatened to kill him while he was unconscious. I talked him out of it. It took some talking.

You can condemn them for being like that, I am just pointing out that many are, and had my jarhead buddy went ahead and killed my civilian friend, he would have gone up for murder or manslaughter, not treason.

The prospect of the charges would not have deterred him, I assure you.

If I was the CO of a unit and one or more of his buddies put in for emergency leave to accompany the deceased, I would have to think long and hard about granting it if there was the threat of one of these protests.

That is a recipe for just the kind of tragedy I speculate upon.

You can call it what you want, assign whatever causation you choose, I'm just telling you how it is, and it is dangerous. I don't expect anyone to truly understand it, including you, Non.

Wait wait wait.. I know what you are saying, Rourke.. But you just quoted Eminem for God-sakes! I understand he's a smart dude.. but his credibility is questionable at best.

Of course, you could be quoting another Marshall Mathers III..

I have a number of friends that joined different forms of the military.. two of them are brothers one year apart.

Growing up, one was always squared away.. the other a bit "wild" in nature. Eric was on the honor role.. Adam on a different list the principle kept track of. Eric joined the marines.. Adam the army.

A number of us wagered which one would get booted first.. 20 years later they both are still enlisted. I have seen them both over the past couple years.. had the opportunity to kick back with both of them on leave and shoot the breeze.

Adam is very squared away now.. normal even, a couple of kids etc. The army did wonders straightening him up... flashes that wild side but he keeps it in check now.

Eric just isn't right now.. we joked and had a hell of a time, but the cat just isn't fit for civi life. Still a hell of a guy, but changed, hardened and edgy. He told me a couple of experiences.. some you don't hear on the news, things he has seen and done.

There was something about him.. around the eyes the looking in control but lost at the same time... worn down yet proud to the core of his life.

I made a point of it to not slip any Marine humor in.. being I am not a Marine I expected it not to fly. Another gent.. not as aptly thinking, got on one of the jarhead routines.. after a couple of warning glances, Eric snapped a bit. Guy only picked up a tooth.. could have been worse I imagine.

Not even Eric I would think incapable of snapping in that nature, but their loyalty to their brothers is a funny thing, from my experiences.

Product of their development and experiences I imagine.

My father, Special Forces - Green Beret, told me stories growing up of some of the experiences with other sectors of the military.. it isn't just reserved to the Marines, they just seem to a on a different level.

His quote, that I remember as if it were spoken today.. "There is two types of crazies.. your run of the mill crazies and Marines."

...and Green Beenies, lol

Your dad would habla.

The biggest difference would be all those "not quite right" jarheads that are also "not quite bright."

Good elaboration on the points I was making that seemed to slip by in the explanation and comprehension department.

Our Jarhead Shop teacher openly calls him a string bean.. he also taught the easy A agriculture class... Tom was fun to piss off.. he would turn all red in the face and look like he was going to blow.

After I graduated.. they promoted him to principle.. lord must have been watching over the students.. he never killed a one.. lol.

Damn, I had been hoping that this type of bullshit was over 40 years ago.

For those that believe in the "rights" of Fred Phelps and his asshole cronies, have you no passion or anger at the one of most base violations of human decency?

I can not begin to fathom the tremendous grief and loss of Mr. Albert Snyder.
And a young man never to live his life, who in fact gave his all for his country.

While I wish no ill befall any one person, should Fred Phelps obituary appear in tomorrows newspaper...........I would smile.

a few comments:
- Formo I saw that movie and loved it also - taking chance was Very moving.
- Such BS about that father having to pay for that shit.
- I dont believe in the iraq war - I didnt back when bush and his cronies lied about going to war and I havnt since. BUT I still care about our sons and daughters risking their lives Everyday over there and serving our country.

My father was in vietnam - they got him addicted to cough syrup and other things - then he comes home fucked up from the war and offs himself.

That doesnt mean I dont love my dad and respect that he served our country. Woa to those that ever say those things about my father (like those people said about this dads son).
Shame on them

Just because I understand it is acceptable by the letter of the law, I have a serious issue with the churches decision.

Personally, if I was at that funeral.. I would have gotten a ride to jail.. I most likely would have tried to knock as many as those asshats on their asses.. but in the end, it would have cost me everything materialistic I would every have.. because that is what they want.. retaliation and money.. but I would have felt justified in the end.

Speaking for myself, I was only speaking of what I think the law would say.

Heck I'm the board's token anarchist. To me the story is further illustration that morality should not be defined by "what the law says."
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : sounds like Packers don't get good compensation, Jaire staying
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Nobody coming up with a keep, but at x amount
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Jalen Ramsey wants to be traded. He's never happy is he?
