For those that believe in the "rights" of Fred Phelps and his asshole cronies, have you no passion or anger at the one of most base violations of human decency?

Just because I understand it is acceptable by the letter of the law, I have a serious issue with the churches decision.

Personally, if I was at that funeral.. I would have gotten a ride to jail.. I most likely would have tried to knock as many as those asshats on their asses.. but in the end, it would have cost me everything materialistic I would every have.. because that is what they want.. retaliation and money.. but I would have felt justified in the end.

I think this is the only issue we'd agree to the point of having each others' backs on. Or maybe not, but still. I'd be sitting in the cell right next to you.

Damn, I had been hoping that this type of bullshit was over 40 years ago.

I can not begin to fathom the tremendous grief and loss of Mr. Albert Snyder.
And a young man never to live his life, who in fact gave his all for his country.

While I wish no ill befall any one person, should Fred Phelps obituary appear in tomorrows newspaper...........I would smile.

I think there would be quite a few people that would be at his funeral....to let his family and followers know what we think of him.
And the yellow stains that would be on his grave would keep that fact known for a long time.
+1 to you, VR

Have you ever done something as a kid and been punished and despite being punished, you felt it was still worth it?

Well, I'd be in jail with you guys for breaking someone's jaw. But, it would be worth it.

Yes, they have the Right to Free Speech. I'm not arguing that. I'm just saying if that was my family member....

This should be a call to the most flamboyant homosexuals from across the country to legally picket outside and legally disrupt inside every single function that this "church" has for the next ten years. There should be a gay rights parade around the "church" block starting 30 minutes before every service.

Who wears short shorts? They wear short shorts; every single moment of every single day right in these bigot's faces. Rainbows should block out their sun.

There have been many gay protests of churches around the country since the 1980s, hosemeoff, not all of which have been exactly peaceful. There have been instances of militant gays charging into church services, defecating on floors, throwing around condoms filled with liquid hand soap (in some cases, used condoms), simulating or even performing sexual acts -- in front of children, no less. There have been homosexual pickets in which they scream things like "Bring back the lions!" There have been rocks thrown through windows. Anti-homosexual billboards have been vandalized. Arson and death threats have been made against pastors and churches that preach against homosexuality.

This stuff already occurs.

...As far as this "church" and Phelps goes, they have been in "business" for a long, long time.

Decades.

I have been personally aware of them since either 2004 or 2005.

I have never commented on them before, and probably shouldn't have done so now.

At least many more are aware of them than before, and as outrageous as this is to me, this whole thing is probably a "net plus"---the part about dad paying these fees...

He isn't going to have to personally pay shit out of his own pocket, and I should have said that up front. He might be the signatory on a check, but those fees are covered, trust me.

I personally despise the Phelps and their ilk. If I tried to come up with a post that adequately expressed my contempt for them, I'd probably get banned. But the price of freedom is inconvenience and sometimes even danger. I'd rather put up with the pain of a sunburn than be forbidden to play on the beach.

Let them rant and rave. They're simply forging themselves a long, heavy chain for the next life.

If only all could feel what that felt like...

Edit-- Shit, I was gonna expand upon this, but never mind.

I kind of take back the whole "If only" statement. Oh, man, what a great honor to have known and served with those that got through all of that, plus those that just didn't quite make it through--(far way from any combat zone) for a myriad of reasons that I am sure you are aware of-There were a lot of very good men in that group too. What a fucked up place this country is capable of becoming. I gotta shut up now, I'm also still in a froth about Abu Ghraib, perhaps far more so... you can see I am incapable of leaving a sleeping dog lie.

That's how I feel about them, too. Judgement day will come for them too. They'll get what's coming for them. I just try to worry about my issues, Lord knows I have enough of them.
