They're on the team because they guys that got cut weren't better than them. It's simple... keep the best 53 guys (and some times you have to get so many at one position)

Que my rant now.. next up is W.Moss.. lol.

Has anyone gotten better under Moss's coaching? ... Poppinga did get better in coverage than he was while under Moss but I can't say any of the LBers have gotten better under Moss other than that.

(and before someone says Matthews, Jones and Zombo they're under the coaching of coach Greene)

But Hawk, Biship, Barnett and Chillar haven't really improved. Now sure if he's coaching or they just ran out of potential.

I am a bit surprised the Packers kept ILB Maurice Simpkins on the PS over ILB Alex Joseph on the PS. I thought Joseph looked like he had more potential and was younger.

Lol i think it had to do something becuase he was 2nd in tackles in the preseason but i hardly think thats the reason.
heres some stats:
Maurice Simpkins 13 tackles 12 total tackles 1 assist tackle
Alex Joseph 6 tackles 5 total tackles 1 assist tackle
Idk if this would have a reason to him making the squad but im not a coach so I dont know how they evaluate them.

I think Joseph was banged up for a while but the kid could serious fly... got to the far sideline faster than Simpkins got to to close sideline.

But maybe he wasn't a football guy.... but he was a pretty good athlete.

Winston Moss praised Hawk and said he is judged unfairly when it comes to production, pointing out he recorded a minimum of 121 tackles in his first three seasons. At the same time, the Packers will continue to match up with teams and Moss said the development of Chillar and Desmond Bishop gives them more flexibility in those subpackages.

The interesting thing will be next season. No way do the Packers bring him back at $10m for the season. So he gets cut or redone. But will he want to be redone on starters money? Or as a situational run stuffer who is more and more sidelined as the NFL becomes ever more a pass first league?

The annoying thing about his contract is that if we cant come to a deal and are forced to cut him we get no compensation. If he left as a free agent we would at least get a draft pick.

You're right man, I should have left identy away from subject title and called it "Overhyped College Players get wealthy off Packer fans while riding the pine".

I actually like Hawk, but if Chiller plays ahead of him, he needs to take a pay cut.

And this topic is warranted.

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
Mucky Tundra (18-Feb) : usually spambots are trying to get traffic to shady websites filled with spyware; the two links being spammed were to the Packers website
