I think our defense was simply out played. Not sure if it was over confident because of the meaningless game that half the Cardinals starters didn't play in. I'll buy into the over confidence in the beginning of the year for shizzle, plus Aaron said they were, lol.

Because they played against the backups the week prior?

Not saying he didn't say it, sounds familiar, I just don't know how a team can be over confident on playing a team a second time that when they played the first time, a good portion of the starters didn't play. Doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I don't know how I forgot about this, but these are great points, and part of what worries me. You'd think the team would have learned their lesson after the excessive preseason loving, but obviously they didn't. I'm not saying overconfidence is the reason the packers started 4-4, or lost to AZ, but it certainly seemed to lead to overlooking problems (e.g. coverage schemes 93z referenced in pvs. threads, o-line depth, etc). I'm crossing the fingers that they've learned to stay hungry and come out swinging.

Finleybeast....one of the great lines I have ever witnessed for describing a high powered offense. Damn near shat my pants. Ironic, huh?

From what I have heard from players' comments, they are taking the, "we ain't done shit yet!", mentality about the hype. And some have alluded to learning from last year's pre-season and early season performances.

I have confidence their heads are on right....and believe veterans like Woodson, Driver, Tauscher, Pickett, etc. have much to do with that mindset.

Visanthe Shiancoe on Packers: "Everybody is jumping on their jock"

Clearly, Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe has been reading PFT. He noticed that two of our four writers making Super Bowl predictions had the Packers winning it all.

That's why he plans to watch his division rivals on Sunday against the Eagles.

"You've got to watch a team like the Packers -- they're the new Cowboys," Shiancoe sarcastically told Yahoo's Michael Silver after the Vikings loss last night. "Everybody's jumping on their jock, like they've actually gone to the Super Bowl, and won it. Give them credit. They did good in the preseason. I mean, good. Good job. That's good stuff."

Classic. I picked the Packers to win the Super Bowl, but wasn't especially confident in picking them this Sunday against Philadelphia. It sounds like Shiancoe is thinking the same way.

"You know what, Philly's defense is pretty good, too," Shiancoe said. "It always is. We'll see how [the Packers] fare against them."

This is great stuff, the packers are obvioulsy in the vike's heads. They lose, and they're more paranoid about the packers than they are their own team.

I can't believe he's acting like a little kid were not the new cowboys lmao didn't a lot of people pick the saints last year??Why does it bother him about the super bowl hype when his QB who everyone know's had more talks than most of the NFL this year.

I even think more analysts pick the cowboys to go to the SB than the packers.

Even if not intentional, I happen to think lots of analysts are "annalists" too - especially that damn Paul Allen!

Not to be a dick, but isn't the correct spelling of "analyst" much closer to the whole 'anal' joke than the misspelling "annalist"?
