When Collin Kaepernick had his "legendary" streak of like 10 games or whatever, I wasn't impressed. I thought he was an athletic dude that had a rocket arm, nothing more. Yet, so many pundits were anointed him as if he should get ready for his yellow jacket. I feel the similar thing happened with Carson Wentz during his 2017 season. He was playing at an MVP level for that SEASON, yet, pundits were claiming he's the next generational QB. Then he had that unfortunate injury and we know the rest.

What I'm getting at here is we saw Jordan Love play incredible for maybe half a season to 10 games. Are we getting too geeked up on him?

One thing that has me feeling it's legit hype is because he started off rough and finished off amazing. That tells me he learned from his mistakes and improved. And somehow as teams got more tape on him, he continued to improve. If he came out like gangbusters for 10 games and fizzled at the end. BIG WORRIES.

I am hopeful for Jordan Love making our QB streak three in a row. I'm just cautiously optimistic. I will say it again that he has done everything I've wanted/needed to see from year one starting.

Do you share any of these thoughts?

BTW, the same (over-hyped talk) might be said for our quarterback.

I love that we have him, but he has been very good for only 1/2 season and threw a big pick in our playoff loss. I hope he is all-world, but let's not anoint him just yet

With all of our young players, I would hope we would be positive, objective, hopeful and less plethoric.

As for Mr Jordan, I am thrilled that he got better as the season progressed. I really need to see it for a full year before I crown him as the threepeat of MVP QBs in Packerland.
That doesn't mean I am opposed to Gute, Ball and Co making him an offer commensurate with a top 5-10 QB.

Ace King suited and we are pushing all in before the flop. We have to do it, no real choice. I feel good about it, but kind of scary. The caller is history, and I find it difficult to read the strength of that hand.

Its warranted hype. Some of the throws he was making looked like a young favre and rodgers. While other QBs got hyped, they were on a loaded team. Love was on a team full of rookies and question marks and his kicker didnt help him any.

I would want to believe that our front office had a compensation package locked and loaded for Love on May 3rd, or at the latest June 1st.

Unfortunately, it sure doesn't look like they did, or Love and his agent dug in knowing the other qb contracts would be setting the market for him.

My question would be if Gute and Ball went low initially. The market is actually exceeding the hype at this point, and I can argue that this is all so predictable.

The cost for not having got the deal done earlier in the process far exceeds the costs of messing with Aaron Jones and his contract, as an example.

Our brain trust quibbled about chump change in that instance, in comparison.

Sure. Pay the man, but I for one recognize that when you pay Peter more than you probably had to, Paul gets lost to another team in the NFL
or never gets on your team in the first place.

The hype train has left the station, and Jordan Love is driving it. We await the cost of the ticket his conductor agent will be charging.

The train has definitely left the station.....

This may be a bit old for many of you youngsters, but Marty and my man used to cut the rug often. We love Donna Sommer

In light of Trevor Lawrences contract likely pushing Love into resetting the market, I'm gonna come out and say I'm in the Love is for real camp. The reasons are mostly for what Zero and bboy listed (improved as the season went on even as defenses had more film, super young offense that was working out problems, made some outrageous throws etc). One of the things that seals the deal for me is the number of former QBs and offensive coaches that watch film and stated that Love ticks all the boxes.

Dude had a lot going for him that year.
