I have faith in are corners but do you guys?
I've been hearing a lot of packer fans worried about are Corner Depth
Well I think there's no worrie here.
You want to know why?
Well I think They will step up this year and play and make plays.
Like Charles Woodson is saying "Guys have to step up we got to use what we got."
After hearing him saying that comment I think he has faith in the guys we got.
The guys are not as bad as you think there just a little raw and i think they will improve throughout the season,

Sam Shields is the guy I think that will surprize us all.Yes He is the Most Raw CB we got but. From what I have seen he has made Great Improvement from were he started and I Give him a hell lot of credit for making this team.

Bradon Underwood I think he has improved from last year and when he's back from his injure he will contribute some.

Lee has struggled some in this preseason but he is comming off a injure and I think he will be better as the season rolls along.

And Bush well he is bad to say the least but he is the 6 cb on are team at least he is not the nickel corner.

And dont forget we get harris back week 6 so there is a great improvement there when we get him ik ik he'll be shaky and prob be a little raw when he returns but then it move williams to nickel and shields to dime so the secondary will be nice agian.

Thoughts on are secondary??

Harris is coming off of a major knee injury that often takes two years to recover from, and he's 34 or 35 years old, so putting all of our faith in him is a bit of a reach.

Lee, Underwood, and esp. Bush are all suspect at best, and an undrafted 1-year CB is what we're pinning much of our hope on, so that concerns me a lot.

We learned in the Sherman years that you're only as strong as your depth, and CB is where we're hurting the most at (as far as depth), so yes, I'm very concerned.

I do not have much faith in them. I only place my good faith in Charles Woodson and how easy is it for any decent quarterback to not throw in Woodson's direction?

We are shallow at DB in numbers and in talent. I do not place much hope on our back-ups. They scare me. If I had to pick a core of the team to be worried about, they get my vote. Hopefully our safeties can provide some help for them when needed (which I think could be often).

+1 dude. LOL.
I like Tramon. As a nickel back. (And a punt returner. Except for the fact that we lack depth now at CB.)

Well, this was one of the better secondaries in the league last year. Didn't the Packers lead the league in interceptions? And that was with a pass rush that was fairly average. So I think the dour predictions are a bit excessive.

Woodson is one of the best CBs in the league and Collins is one of the best safeties in the league. That's a pretty good start. With Harris out, it's a pretty steep dropoff after those two, but when you have two players of that caliber in your defensive backfield it makes things easier for everyone else. Two great players and two decent complementary players is better than most secondaries.

I think Tramon is a serviceable CB and Burnett could be an effective safety as a rookie. The only problem is the depth. It is going to be mighty thin at least until Harris and Bigby come back, and there are a lot of doubts that Harris can be effective this season even if he returns. So I'm expecting some rough outings early in the season. But it's quite possible that the secondary will become stronger as the season goes on, with the young guys gaining experience and one or two vets rejoining the team.

Look around the league. Other teams have flaws and injuries too. The Packers are not that bad off compared to most other teams.

Al Harris will be fine.

His work ethic is incredible, and I Love the fact the Packers are not rushing him.

My faith in the secondary is in large degree contingent upon the play of the front seven. If the Pack can find more of a pass-rush identity in Capers' scheme (and continue to shutdown or at least mitigate opposing rushers) then it'll make things easier. This is a VERY opportunistic defense. Someone posted a stat in the shout box that was originally from the new football almanac: Nick Collins has eight -- countem EIGHT -- dropped interceptions over the last two years. When you take into account how many interceptions he actually had it gives you a snapshot of this teams opportunistic tendencies.

I'm hoping the takeaways will still be there. I'm obviously hoping the dominant run defense is there. If the Pack can generate a more consistent pass-rush, though, I expect the greatest positive yield. That's a DBs best friend.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Our secondary is as worrisome to me as our special teams. Past Woodson I don't have faith in any of the CBs to be able to shut a good passing game down. Now in fairness, in this air it out league that the NFL has become it is nearly impossible to shut down any good passing offense unless the front 7 are killing the opposing quarterback. With that in mind, even if we had Revis and Woodson together, if the front 7 doesn't get pressure then even that combo would give up yards and scores. My biggest problem with our secondary now is that we seem to be playing less physical at the line of scrimmage. I know the 3-4 has a weakness when it comes to the quick slants, but come on, get some hands on them at the line of scrimmage, don't just let the receiver get inside leverage at the end zone for easy touchdowns (watch Tramon on the second Indy touchdown). And I know it's part of the bend don't break philosophy, but I miss the bump and run at the LOS.

Overall I don't know if our secondary is necessarily horrible compared to other secondaries, but definetely the weakest area of our defense, so it is where I have the least amount of faith.
